  3. @SrRochardBunson There are #ProsAndCons of #genetictesting 🧬. Especially true for those with cons on their family tree 🌲. 🤔

Personally, I’m *very* glad I did it. Helping a woman find her biological father and having her welcomed into my extended family before her great-grandmother died is just a small nugget from the #genealogical gold mine I discovered.

  7. Interested in the #surnames of people in your #OnePlaceStudy / #FamilyHistory, and finding out where those surnames are/were most prevalent? Here are three resources shared by Debbie Kennett and IGRS (the Irish #Genealogical Research Society) on Twitter:

  8. African American Genealogy Workshop “Genealogy and Migration Stories” - Heinz History Center

The migration of African Americans primarily from the Southern United States to points North and West changed the landscape of this country forever. But there is a myriad of experiences by individuals and families during the migration.

Genealogist and family historians are using methods and techniques to recapture those relatives that braved the migration and start anew in new spaces with new faces.

In partnership with the #African #American #Historical & #Genealogical #Society of #Pittsburgh, this workshop will focus on family migration stories and genealogical research methods useful for piecing together family histories.

  9. Now here's a #genealogical and #historical #mystery. The Will of Dr Richard Turner who in 1770 left everything to Elizabeth Giles "by whom I have had many children and whom I esteem as much as any man does his lawful wife". She was a 'singlewoman', so was he already married? Divorce was impossible for most.

  10. #RightToErasure refused in #Iceland’s large national #genealogical database, the #Íslendingabók. As I understand it, this contains all Icelanders, including living ones, and even their foreign spouses, It’s log-in only but so widely used, in practice available to all. Remember the ‘dating incest app’ story? Was a student project wrapper around this. Erasure refused due to science/archiving gdprhub.eu/index.php?title=Per #DataProtection

  11. @Tony_Meredith Just stumbled across this article by Ronald Dunning on a Burgh-Darcy marriage, back in 1329: janeausteninvermont.blog/2013/

Elizabeth #LadyofClare probably attended the first wedding of her husband's sister Joan de #Burgh at #Greencastle in 1312, but left Ireland in 1316 so would not have been at the second.

I think the #PrideAndPrejudice #CharacterNames allude to #UKpolitics in #JaneAusten's day, but a lot of #genealogical info was available to her: more at historians.social/@kawulf/1096

  12. Wishing all customers, future customers, friends and colleagues a wonderful new year 2023 in good health and with great #genealogical discoveries.

One of my small personal results, I managed to discover the names of all the people in this picture, that used to belong to my gran. #genealogy #geneadons #research

Gender colors and sibling display were requirements of my daughters. They don't want a family tree without their sister :)

My eldest paternal ancestor was a carter in the postal service, hence maybe my job in the internet business :)

  15. Good 🌄 morning!

I woke up to a good email from a cousin of mine who is happy to help me out with #genealogical information. He's even got a few stories to share.

He even confirmed details I only extrapolated based on dates, locations, and vague memories from my mother.

📍i’ve become proficient at blending chickpeas into sauces, cauliflower into mashed potatoes, & veg into “meatloaf”, such that my mom & dad are eating more fiber now than they’ve ever eaten in their lives. #eldercare
