Unfortunately, #gcloud CLI does not have native support for multiple profiles when it comes to programmatic access to the #GoogleCloud API.

As in, you can't say

aws s3 ls --profile dev-eu my-bucket

If you stick with the default behavior, you will be forced to login to Application Default Login (ADC) every single time.

That's annoying AF.

That's why I created a small Shell #script to address this shortage.

The single fundamental thing you have to understand about #AWS and #GCloud is that they are company-internal systems that are sold to external customers as a sideline. Only the company's internal customers are important. External customers have no input to the product roadmap, bug prioritisation, or anything else meaningful about the cloud service.

I've been doing a bunch of kotlin today, I'm having a blast although I'm doing some manual dependency injection for now baby steps, once I get some android specific fundamentals I'll dive into common libraries for that
It's also worth noting that I ended up using my FsFediverseArchive F# GCloud Functions project as the backend for this
I'm doing the typical embedded database for local todos and for network related things I went for the ktor client
Both languages are Fantastic, kotlin is so dynamic and fresh for me plus the productivity and safety of F#! geez im in hobby projects heaven right now

Trying to set up the Google Cloud API CLI, it fails at step one.

I'm baffled that I can't just "brew install gcloud", but have to download a .gz and run "./install.sh", which invokes Python and (as usual with Python) goes belly-up because of some environmental shit that isn't precisely in the same condition on my computer as on the Google developer's machine. What a shitty experience.
