@kathhayhoe @parents4future Not to be a party pooper, but "solar on railway tracks" is very likely not a great idea and more the "fancy startup stunts" of solar (similar to what Hyperloop and #gadgetbahn are for transportation).
TL;DR: Before you put solar between railway tracks, there are so many more viable places to pot it with more efficiency, less cost, and easier maintenance.

Oh nein! Eine neue #GadgetBahn fällt aus, eine autonom fahrende, an einem dt. Flughafen...Ist ja noch fast nie passiert... wer hätte damit rechnen können?
Wer hatte eigentlich die brillante Idee, zwischen Terminal 2 und 3 ein anderes System einzusetzen als zwischen Terminal 1 und zwei und auch etwas anderes als zwischen Terminal 1 und der Shoppingmall. (Ja, alles verschiedene, an einem Campus)

Den Begriff der #gadgetbahn mag ich ja eigentlich nicht. Erinnert mich zu sehr an Politik. Und da tauchen die auch gerne auf. Doch eigentlich hat fast jedes System seine Berechtigung, was ich im folgenen Artikel darlegen will. #öpnv #seilbahn #maglev #monorail #magnetbahn

In the 1950s, the Victorian government was seriously considering a 40-seat helicopter bus service from the roof of Southern Cross Station to Moorabbin and Essendon Airports: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9Ybkpk3KaU
It also predicted that, by 2003, helipads would be built all over Melbourne for the thousands of people commuting by helicopter bus each day.
Needless to say, it never happened.

@EUCommission This is almost the very definition of a #Gadgetbahn... no better than a private car or robo-taxi without route flexibility!
If you want public transit to succeed while efficiently transporting the masses and reducing dependence on private vehicles, then fund cycling, buses, trams and light rail instead.

Can someone please explain to, why #GadgetBahn concepts are apparently becoming more popular in right-wing/libertarian circles? What gives? Yes, I've seen the #AdamSomething videos. But still...
Also why #maglev of all things? The one tech where we do have apples-for-apples comparison data in ridership and economical terms. -
