@btaroli @ivory These are the things that *actually* make software great. Sure, it shouldn't have crashed, but they planned for the worst and realized how valuable your post was to you. This is the kind of user-focused thinking I'd love to see more in #FossUX!

Makers of proprietary software know this, so they invest a lot in a flawless (especially onboarding) UX.

Maybe we should do some of that on the #FOSS side.

We *want* people to use privacy and freedom respecting alternatives, right?

They neither know nor care what a repository is and it doesn't matter to them how F-Droid fetches or stores its app list.

Please understand this if you want to address non-technical users: When it doesn't work (especially with no pointer on how to make it work), they immediately leave.

A serious hurdle to #FOSS adoption I've witnessed multiple times in the last few days is a download page showing you a ton of files without any explanation. It's especially stupid because it's so easy to fix.
