anyone else experiencing the same bug as me? i updated Fennec #fdroid to version 142 on my phone and it exhibits this strange behaviour where if i opened the app and typed anything into the address bar (a search query, a website), it just wouldn't load. even though i know i'm properly connected to the internet, the progress bar will get stuck on like 25% or so. doesn't matter if i switched tabs or opened new ones, they will all get stuck.

but! if i say, summoned Fennec through a link from an external app (Google app search, a link in Discord), it'll only get stuck like that for a little before just proceeding to open the page like usual. no clueless waiting, no drama. and all the other tabs would work too... until i closed the app. opening it fresh again throws me back at square one with the mysterious, endless loading of... something??

J'ai effacé mes paramètres, reconfiguré mais le bug persiste. #Firefox ne pose pas de souci, lui.
Y'en a qui ont trouvé comment résoudre ça ou j'attends simplement la prochaine màj ?

The browser I use on Android (Fennec F-Droid) just switched my default search engine back to Goggle, and what's worse, completely removed Mojeek and Brave as search options. This is an anti-feature!

It would be great if F-Droid builds of Android browsers stripped out the code that pulls dick moves like this.

I just upgraded to F-Droid 1.20.1, before I saw the advice to wait for 1.21.1. Do I need to be worried, or do/ not do anything?

I also see the vulnerability warnings on Fennec F-Droid and Mull, telling me to uninstall. Do I really need to do that, or just avoid using them until patched updates are shipped?

How do I add @monocles search to Fennec (FireFox fork available in @fdroidorg )?

I tried following the instructions here:

In Settings>Search I found Add search engine>Other, but I wasn't sure what to put in the 'Search string to use' field.

Ahora estoy probando Mull que también esta basado en Firefox pero creo que es aun mas privado que Fennec!!! Vamos a ver si me los quedo o los termino sacando ya que sus interfaces son un calco de Firefox.
Un dato de color es que ambos navegadores (Fennec y Mull) tienen la opción de arrastrar para deslizar, cosa que Firefox no tiene.

The Fennec F-Droid mobile web browser is no longer supporting the ancient versions of Android I'm stuck on with some of my devices. Can anyone recommend a free code browser (ideally available in F-Droid) that still supports Android 4x?

Am I the only one having an issue with custom search engine on #FennecFDroid ? Like whenever I try to add a custom search engine on Settings > Search > Add search engine > Other, such as Ecosia, an error « Search engine with name "Ecosia" already exists », but I cannot find it 🤔

I can stick with #DuckDuckGo for now, but it’s been two releases with this bug already. I don’t know whether it is an upstream bug though

@z428 @jcbrand ah ok. That sounds a bit like the way I had #Pinafore set up on my ancient #Android (4.2.2). When I went to Pinafore.social #FennecFDroid, there was an option to add a bookmark to my start page, so it behaved more like a native app, while still running in Fennec.
