Connected the eDRUMin to my Alesis Nitro Mesh today and holy moly…

The bell detection feature on the ride makes so much fun, the snare plays nicer, latency feels better.

Can’t wait until I can afford that Roland VQD106, but just the module was already a quality of life upgrade.

Oh god, the planning...

If I go with the Roland VQD106 set, I'll have:
Mono KickTower + 3 Mono Toms = 2 TRS
3x CYQ-12 (HH+Cymbals) = 3 TRS
PDQ-8S Snare = 1 TRS (Rim+Pad)
FD-9 Hihat Pedal should be resistive and not trigger. That totals to:
6 TRS inputs to the module, 1 resistive pedal input

So with an eDRUMin 8 I get 8 TRS (splittable to mono) and have 4x mono trigger head room. Which would enable me to transplant 3 additional crash cymbals from the Alesis Nitro over to the Roland VQD. I have a Triggera kick pedal trigger, that I could use as a makeshift cowbell to fully utilize the 8 TRS ports (or go with an additional tom later on).

Meaning:

1x Hihat
1x Kickdrum
1x Snare
3x Toms
1x Cowbell
5x Cymbals 🥹

Price is hefty though, 400€ for the eDRUMin 8, 2000€ for the VQD106 (it's Roland...). So I'll have to save up and split over months :/

Meine neuen eDrums haben im Gegensatz zu den alten (Roland TD1) ein Kickpad und Meshheads, und meine Frau beschwert sich, ich würde das Haus einreißen.

Bei den alten hat ein dicker Teppich drunter genügt, um den Trittschall zu dämpfen, die hatten aber nur ein Pedal als Bassdrum und diese Gummipads. Beim Kickpad scheint der Teppich wenig zu helfen.

Lohnt sich eine Schlagzeugmatte? Bringt die mehr als ein dicker Teppich?

Frankenset is aliiive! It's a mash of parts from different sources. Rack built with 3d printed brackets and domestically sourced toobz. It's using a eDrumIn 10 interface to turn impulses from the pads and pedals into MIDI, which goes to MPC 3.5's drum plugins. Each pad gets its own track, so they can each do different wild things.

This took some doing. I need to fine tune the pads, but it's finally playable.

It's as good as it needs to be, because I am not very good!
