Huge victory for nature. New rules will allow the EU to impose sanctions on those who destroy our nature on a massive scale. Penalties include fines and even prison time!

Last week, the EU agreed on a penalty for damage to the planet “ comparable to ecocide. ” This includes, for example, the illegal logging that takes place in the forests of Romania. Or the destruction of Doñana, one of the most important wetlands in Europe, home to millions of migratory birds.
