Comet Lemmon - 25 Oct 2026
First attempt at a comet.
Fuji X-H2 + 50-140mm lens (10s, ISO 640, f/4, 86 subs using pixel-shift) on the Skywatcher StarAdventurer pro, Siril, SetiAstroSuite Pro (another first!) and Affinity.
Got a bit of work to be doing in the processing side, but that was fun anyway.

Comet Lemmon Will Not Return For Another Millennia; Here Are Some Striking Images Of It Captured From Around The Globe

Well, I can’t say I didn’t try 🤷♂️
First night without 100% cloud cover in ages, so I had to see if I could spot Comet Lemmon 💫👀
The cloud on the western horizon had other ideas though ☁️🙄
It’s somewhere in there, roughly in that direction 🧐
Promise 👍

Finally a clear night as the sun set to the west. Didn’t think I’d ever catch this one with the weather we’ve had.
Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon)
30sec exposures with an iPhone 15 @ 1x (24mm) and 5x (123mm). The final faint one is a 6 sec f6/ISO 2000 shot from Nikon D5500 18.0-300mm @ 87mm.
A lot of unwelcome satellite streaks, almost all Starlinks sure. That’s a first for me.

Comet Lemmon from last week. Finally got around to processing photos from Nikon Z6. 25 six second exposures taken with 70 mm lens at f/4 were stacked to make this image. Comet Lemmon from last week. Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) (bottom of the image) and Gemma (main star in the constellation Corona Borealis) (top of the image) on 24 October at 20:33 CEST from Wedemark, north of Hanover, Germany.
The straight, bluish plasma tail is visible over a length of ~6° (12 full moon diameters). The curved dust tail is a lot shorter.
Crop from a stack of 51 2-second images at ISO 5000, f/2.8, and f=200 mm.

Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) on 24 Oktober at 20:28 CEST from Wedemark north of Hannover, Germany.
Cropped from a stack of 51 single exposures of 2 s at ISO 5000, f/2.8, and at f=200 mm.
Used Siril, Gimp, and NeatImage to improve stacked image afterwards.
Edit: Added newly edited version of the image with less color shift added.

I was hoping to see Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon), but I was out of luck, because the northwest sky was covered with clouds.
However! I spotted sharks in the ocean instead 🦈🦈🦈#comet
