There is also a #PUNCH video showing only #comet #Lemmon and its tails in https://science.nasa.gov/blogs/punch/2025/12/19/nasas-punch-spies-comet-lemmon/ - unfortunately too faint so much tail structure gets lost which can be glimpsed in the full video. But the data are there, waiting for someone to process them for science.

There have been numerous disgustingly fake 'nightscape' composites flooding the web where someone had merely pasted a deep astronomical image of comet C/2026 A6 #Lemmon into some landscape, making it look like it was a giant rivalling Ikeya-Seki oder West - oh, how I hated that. And what a relief that NOIRLab has now posted - https://noirlab.edu/public/images/iotw2549a/ - this beautiful and apparently unmanipulated picture of Lemmon over Mauna Kea on 12 November. Yes, it reached 3 point something mag. and had nice tails in the end but it was not a great comet by any means: just look how small and faint it appears next to the southern Milky Way!

The "Totally I swear it's a comet" #3IAtlas can notch up another conspicuous anomaly to its list of 9.
Another "comet" has suddenly appeared right between 3iAtlas and #earth
It's designated #v1borisov
Like 3iAtlas is has no significant tail.There are way too many "coincidences" for my liking. The new comet trajectory is not heading for earth (for now)...
...However the comet #lemmon is aligned right at some phat #solar spots and some out there folks are suggesting, if these are mechanical, they may be fucking with the sun
A class 4 #solarstorm is expected to hit us in 12 hours.

Noch einmal überraschend gute Sicht auf #Komet #Lemmon gab es heute am frühen Abend aus #Bochum - trotz inzwischen nur noch geringer Höhe über dem Horizont und weiter einem fast vollen Mond am Himmel: Aufnahmen gegen 18:15 MEZ, mit Lemmon ~12° über und der Sonne ~12° unter dem Horizont, und zeitweise war der Komet auch in einem 11x70-Fernglas zu sehen. Bilder aus allen inzwischen fünf erfolgreichen Sichtungs-Nächten in Bochum sind nun in dem Album https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=dan.fischer.393&set=a.10231976686254916 vereinigt.

Nach den zwei Nachweisen von #Komet #Lemmon aus #Bochum oben im Thread gelangen noch einer unter extrem schlechten Bedingungen am 30. Oktober - https://scicomm.xyz/@cosmos4u/115498496854194587 - und einer heute bei zwar recht klarem Himmel aber dafür im grellen Schein des in https://mastodon.social/@PlanetariumBochum/115498170669835452 schon vorgestellten 'Supermonds'. Zwei Aufnahmen mit Blende 2.8 und 3.2 Sekunden bei ISO 800 bzw. 1.6 Sekunden bei ISO 1600 von einem anderen Standort aus: unter *diesen* Umständen ein immer noch erstaunlich starkes 'Signal'.

After a complicated and one good sighting of #comet #Lemmon from #Bochum, Germany, on 20 and 24 October - see the thread https://mastodon.social/@PlanetariumBochum/115430462668539532 - more cloudy evenings followed ... but here is the comet again on 30 October, picked blindly out of a suuuuper-crappy sky with 4 seconds at f/2.8 and ISO 1600, right above 9 Herculis. Detection #3 ... and there would be one more today (see the following boost).
