Just landed down south in Iqaluit, which was interesting. Walked in the hotel room and got a call that there’s a bear at the cabin. Father-in-law is trying to scare it away. #Nunavut #CabinLife

Pretty, smoky, sky. #Nunavut #AfterMidnight
Although I just noticed that the sky/hills appear to be giving someone the finger.

Went to the cabins tonight to do a cleanup. Lots of stuff scattered by the wind including the pan from the fire pit. Wanted to move it so I did, and burnt some wood scraps. #CabinLife #Nunavut

Most of our flowering plants colonized the north Baffin after the last ice age. As the ice retreated the plants followed it north. But three of our flowers survived the ice age here and reestablished populations. They are Vaux’s Cinquefoil, Pallas Wallflower, and this beauty, Silvery Oxytrope. One of the best places to find it is at our cabin. #Nunavut #CabinLife #Wildflowers

#Indigenous nations in #NWT and #Nunavut have constitutionally protected legislation that will not be trashed because the #CarneyCons are strutting around like corporate CEOs. https://cabinradio.ca/297351/news/travel/mackenzie-valley-highway-will-the-way-its-regulated-change/

Sunday cabin was a flurry of activity. #CabinLife #Nunavut

Taken stuff out to the cabin yesterday and this is where we got stuck. Got out, and then stuck again, headed back and switched to snowmobiles. Looks like the days of driving there are done for the year. #CabinLife #Nunavut

Yesterday we “warmed” the cabin. Crowded and joyful. People came and ate and made space for others. Games were held at my in-laws’ cabin for more room. Tuktu stew, allu, bannock, salads and plenty of desserts. #CabinLife #Nunavut

Coming back to the cabin at the end of the walk. I was soaked in sweat as I was way over dressed. Stuck around the cabin longer than expected as I had to dry out clothes before snowmobiling back to town. #CabinLife #Nunavut

Job site table saw and empty fuel transfer tank ready to come back from the cabin. #CabinLife #Nunavut

Stayed at the cabin last night. I brought heating fuel out as we were getting low. My wife is in Pond Inlet for Nunavut Quest as she’s on the committee. So I thought there was no point in going back home. Very quiet, took the battery out of the clock because the ticking was annoying me.
Took another tank of heating fuel out tonight but I’ll head home soon. Pretty sky tonight. #CabinLife #Nunavut

The beacon during Tuesday’s power outage. #CabinLife #Nunavut

Crowded cabin tonight. The power went off in the community this morning. The crew from Qulliq energy arrived about an hour ago to try and get it sorted.
So we decamped to the cabin with family for power and warmth. If they don’t get it going we’ll go get the dogs and extra blankets for everyone. #Nunavut #CabinLife

Iqaluit, Nunavut
❄️ A cold one in the capital! Temperatures are ranging between -23°C and -31°C today. We’ve got about an hour of "bright" twilight, so make the most of it! Expect some light drifting snow near the airport. It’s a quiet, frozen Wednesday. Keep the tea brewing and stay warm indoors whenever possible. 🏔️
