  1. Traffic jams? Consider underground tunnels to ease congestion on the hot roads

Elon Musk "really profits from a kind of terra nullius environment, where there’s as few regulations as possible, and he can quickly move into a relatively empty space and dominate it,” Slobodian says. Just as he achieved that with SpaceX’s rockets and Starlink’s low Earth orbit satellites, so Musk doubtless saw the underground realm as territory for the taking."

We urgently need an uncongested tunnel underneath Hyde St in car-dependent #Bellingen >>

  6. Most of the problems people have with snow are really problems with car dependency. Driving is already dangerous on a good day, and even more dangerous on a snowy road.

Eliminate the need to drive, and you eliminate the danger. Walkability and rail transit are the answer.

  8. @ccferrie We also have a #CarDependent Outlet Village development "back on track" (with a greater proportion of food and drink space this time), to kill off some more of the #retail and #hospitality clinging on in #CorkCity and the surrounding villages.
You couldn't site this outlet in a worse place for traffic congestion if you tried.

  9. @PoLaRobs I was there in 2010 (last time England and the US were in the group stage of the world cup together!), working for a few weeks at High Cross. Traffic was bad. We stayed in a surrounding village and we were #CarDependent. I can only imagine it getting worse if there was no plan. Still, I remember fondly that residential areas were concentrated and there was a lot more #GreenSpace surrounding the city than we generally see here!
