  1. I'll avoid the subtoot and just post a (somewhat) positive message:

#bambu #bambulabs are doing #enshittification at speed and on purpose. They define "community" as "people who gave us money, under our rules and control". We know that. The occasional reminder for #3dprinting is still good.

If you want to amplify that message, focus on the positive people such as #LouisRossmann: m.youtube.com/watch?v=1jhRqgHx

    That's it. That's the toot.

The video is very much worth a watch but the last 4 minutes are actually amazing.

Louis details all of the other big tech and pharma companies that attempted the same thing with him and how he’s beat them.

    Absolutely Trojan work.

  6. Why are #bambulabs such a bunch of actuasl tools?? Shortly after buying my P1S they started closing their ecosystem but back paddled shortly after. Now they are going after an OSS dev? Yep, last #bambulab product for me. youtube.com/watch?v=eb48MdtNaDQ

  7. I've a somewhat bad luck with picking a brand that is highly recommended, even if they cost more at times compared to the competition, and end up discovering they're shitty literally so soon after my purchase.

    That happened with
#Anker 's #Eufy, and it happened with #BambuLabs. For the latter, it seems that they're continuing their bullshit crusade against people freaking owning their #3Dprinters they paid for - including by hunting down #FOSS devs/projects that allow people to print stuffs on their printers without being spied on by Bambu Labs.

Seriously, fuck these brands and vote with your wallet. Also, if you've always been paranoid of American brands, don't forget to do so with Chinese brands too. You're a fool if you a think they're any better.

  8. It's good to see a few trending reminders that #bambu #bambulabs are fundamentally untrustworthy.

I just wish that the most trending one didn't have an ethical position that can be fairly summarized as "3D printers should have more bodily autonomy than women"

  13. Whoa, I got #CircuitPython to connect to my #BambuLabs 3D Printer using Bambu Cloud (local connection not working yet, I think that's because local uses MQTT 3.1.1, not 5.0)

#creality #anycubic #prusa #bambulabs #3Dprint #3Dprinting #3Ddruck

  15. This is insane. A 3D-printed book nook, with backlight and working clock. Want one? The person who designed this (hint, not me) has made it available to print your own: makerworld.com/en/models/23... #3dprinting #bambulabs

  17. Hey @clayton,

    Re: https://claytonerrington.com/blog/2026-w03/,

Are you still thinking about getting a #3DPrinter? What brands are looking good to you? I've got some recommendations and contra-recommendations. I'm a big fan of #Prusa because of their (mostly?) #OpenSource stance on things, although I've been decently happy with my #SOVOL printer, which was both inexpensive, and also mostly open.

I'd recommend staying away from #BambuLabs, as they're trying to become the #Apple of #3DPrinting, and I absolutely mean that as an insult. XD

Re: Laptops really being "portable computers," I recall [referring to] the Classic all-in-on Macs as laptops, so I guess that should work both ways! ;)

  18. Good Morning Folks! This is one of my normal Monday morning topics where I discuss a bunch of stuff that I did over the weekend, finishing up some 3D printing projects, playing some #GuildWars, leveling in #PathofExile, gearing out Jaren in #DestinyRising, and starting a new book.

  19. Hello friends, this time we have Ezra Bridger, the young padawan from Star Wars Rebels. Inspired by his classic look, with details of his orange jumpsuit and a more cartoonish finish typical of the Playaction style. His signature blaster/lightsaber is also included.

  20. I'm so annoyed at the #BambuLabs situation. My #X1C is a phenomenal machine, but I simply cannot support the company after they bait-and-switched on us and locked down the firmware the way they did.

This is why we can't have nice things. #3DPrinting

  22. Seems like there should be a "Maker's Bill of Consumer Rights" that companies can sign up to that would hold them accountable. "Right to Repair" is nice, but a binding agreement before purchasing would be better for consumers. It might help especially in the #bambulabs situation. Apparently #formlabs have already locked down their printers.

  23. Sigh, I was thinking about buying a Bambu Labs printer some day because of all the rave reviews, the "It Just Works" comments, etc.

Now it's been enshittified with internet-of-shit, cloud bullshit.

I shall be careful to buy printers that are / can be controlled with #Octoprint, #klipper + #mainsail or some other local open source system.

  25. Finished upgrading my #bambulabs #p1p to a #p1s today!

Upgrade process was a bit more involved than I expected, but was still about to do it in about 3 hours total. I do wish I read the instructions beforehand to realize I needed to print a part BEFORE I went and lugged the printer downstairs to work on it lol

Ran my first print with PETG and the results are fantastic. I'm shocked at how much better the noise levels are with the enclosure, it's about comparable to running it in quiet mode before the upgrade.

The print quality for PETG is much better, no warping on the edges like I usually get with PETG

I've got a roll of ABS on the way to finally try that out!

  26. Printing the honeycomb storage wall with 70 hours of printing time and 100 more to go. Should be done in ca. 2 weeks. Still having fun, but making me consider buying a #bambulabs x1 #3dprinting #3dprintingmarathon #hsw

  27. So I had my first major printer issue over the weekend and I've got to say I'm very please with the repair-ability of the #bambulabs #p1p throughout the whole process.

I'm not 100% sure what actually happened, but I got an error notification partway through a print, and when i went to investigate I found that the hotend had somehow snapped in two, and the raw, unmelted filament was sticking out of the slot it'd normally have gone into. I've heard that the hotends that ship by default with the P1P are a bit substandard, so no huge surprise there, but a still a disappointment.

So I hopped on Bambu's website, ordered a new hotend assembly, it arrived in just a few days. I also took the opportuntity to replace the toolhead cable with the heavy duty replacement and add a cable chain.

I'd say overall the whole process took ~30m from start to finish, and that was with my learning how to do it as I went. Already a few prints in on the new hotend!

  28. Alright - so I've had my #bambulabs #ams on my #p1p for about a week now. Thought I'd give a bit more thoughts on it.

Still having issues with tangling and jams. Less issues than I had at first, but still more than 0.

Filament Wastage and added time is also a much bigger concern than i originally thought. I recently printed a Kirby pencil holder for my wife, and out of the 300g of material it took to print, a bit over 100g of that was pure wastage. Not too crazy, but it does make you think twice before adding color to things. It also ended up jamming like 8 times throughout the process

That being said, colored prints look AMAZING, like i seriously can't overstate how much nicer prints come out when you can add actual color patterns to them.

An added benefit that I don't see talked about much is how convenient it makes monochrome printing. I always keep a black and white PLA spool loaded up, and with that i rarely need to change filaments, which is awesome!

    #3dprinting

  29. Alright - I've had my #bambulabs #p1p #3dprinter for a bit over a month now, and feel like I've racked up enough hours without that I can give a reasonably informed review of it's performance.

Keep in mind as you read, that this was my first entry to 3d printing, so there may be some aspects I assume are unique to the P1P that aren't, and some aspects that I assume are universal to all printers that in fact aren't. Let me know if you spot any such cases.

Alright - so starting off with the positive,

the P1P is an absolutely stellar starting point to the world of 3d printing. The price tag is maybe a tiny bit high compared to some of the budget options in the field, but in my research looking at various options, it's just about the best "bang for your buck" option on the market today.

Between opening the box and printing my first benchy took maybe an hour all said and done, and that included all the learning curves you'd expect in dealing with your very first printer

  30. We just came across this exciting news about the launch of the #Creality Sermoon D3 Pro—a Red Dot Prize winner that's said to revolutionize the 3D printing industry with its cutting-edge features and exceptional performance. 🏆🎉

We are really curious to know what you all think about this new innovation. Is the Sermoon D3 Pro sparking your interest, or do you find it a bit too pricey for what it offers? 🤔💭

One feature that caught our attention is the "Independent Dual Extrusion," but we've also noticed more affordable automatic material systems like the #AMS from #Bambulabs or #Idex from #SnapMaker Do you believe dual extrusion is a game-changer, especially with these other alternatives available?

We would love to hear your thoughts and opinions! So, drop your comments, and let's discuss this fascinating development together! 🗣️🤗
