Woot! My #python #atari8 800XL emulator is working pretty darn well now!
Don't get me wrong, it's still pokey, but it's gone from totally unusable watch characters render like molasses slow to "I am typing on a 1200 baud model connection" slow :)
The various graphics modes seem to work with light testing and I've written and run various BASIC programs.
Having fun with this :)

@gunstick yes I know what they are, I have also downloaded some demos from these parties, or watched some videos on youtube. But I am not in the demo scene, not enough time to do anything good. If you want to do some #atari8 programming try out coding using DLIs to increase the colour range beyond the offical graphic mode limits. You can achieve quite a lot and many demos use that technique. For add-ons the #side3 and #fujinet

The Steam Deck runs Altirra really well!
I did have to configure the controller, and I haven’t tried any games that require a keyboard but I could remap some of the triggers to those keys.

My first experience of being online was using Fidonet, a federated bulletin board system (BBS) via dialup. Email and forum messages were pushed between each BBS at set times. My high school computing project was on it and the different forums and communities you could find. Each BBS had it's own moderators, community.
Mastodon feels a bit like that now. Back then the code was more efficient, you could be online on with less than 64k #atari8 #bbcmicro
Lets see how the #fediverse pans out.

Last version was 4.2.0 in 2019.

Well, the original did. Whether this one has stood the test of time remains to be seen...I might have to look into a cassette deck for my Atari 130XE just to maximise my value for money. 😆
