Der Vorverkauf hat bereits begonnen und man kann ihn über die RETROGAMES Webseite vorbestellen (Verkauf-Links) . Er kostet 219€.

The #Atari800XL was my first computer. Nice to see a re-release but I won't be buying one. I was never a (retro) gamer. I used mine to learn BASIC programming... although I was never that good at it.

Atari is bringing back the 800XL, its computer-and-games-console hybrid.

The new version connects through HDMI, includes 25 pre-installed games and has a full-size mechanical-style keyboard.

It also features a slot for games released on cartridges for the system, while USB can be used to load games from Atari systems such as the 400 and 5200.

The 800XL costs $220, with shipments scheduled to begin on 23 April 2027.

Does anyone know what mod this might be I found in this #atari800 XL?
It looks pretty intricate. I'm brand new to 8 bit Atari computers, but I know an old timey mod when I see one.
The only chips I see added are these three multiplexors/demultiplexors.
Amusingly, they "sewed" the PCB onto a piece of cardboard to insulate the back side and hold it in place.
Thats alot of soldering and wiring routing for a mod.

it feels good that i got 3 PRs approved and merged into the #atari800 emulator project just recently. two were fixes for ctrl-[letter] key handling and CAPS key handling in SDL2. the other PR allowed using -run <file> at the same time as -netsio, which enables access to #fujinetpc

Interesting: Jason Moore, the lad behind Atari Projects mentions that removing a capacitor can sharpen up the video signal:

You probably already know it but there were 4 different types of keyboards for the #Atari800XL, and you may have been just unlucky so far.

haha... i got my son, with me in the Philippines, to talk with someone in Poland over IRC using my #Atari800XL with #Fujinet-PC running #FujiNetChat. he enjoyed the experience.

Using CaTer and SSH on an #atari800xl and #commodore64 via #FujiNet / #meatloaf. Fujinet-cater is a vt100 terminal for C64, Apple ][ and Atari 8-bit computers.

One can use an #Atari8bit computer like an #Atari800XL, or #atari800 emulator with #FujiNet-PC to connect to a CP/M #cpm emulator.

today, i worked on implementing netsio proceed signal handling in the #atari800 emulator. after hours of dev, I got it working and submitted a PR to the github:atari800/atari800 project.

I got FujinetChat to work on my Atari 800XL! But only after fixing some code in fujinet-firmware to get the PROCEED signal properly handled for SIO2PC.

The fix was submitted as my first PR to the fujinet-firmware project on github. It was accepted. :)

FujinetChat is an IRC client for Atari 8-bit computers written by Urchlay.

Floppy mechanika Atari 1050 pre 8bitové počítače Atari. Táto prestala ešte začiatkom 90-tých rokov zapisovať médiá. Včera som sa dostal k tomu, že som ju rozobral, pozrel a zistil, že pokazená je LED signalizujúca povolenie zapísať. Spravil som bypass - doplnil som jumper a mechanika si LED nevšíma, zapisuje stále. V blízkej budúcnosti možno nahradím jumper dvojpolohovým prepínačom.
