@egonw @dingemansemark Hidden gems is another term people have used. When I was on the PLOS article-level metrics team, I proposed using the PDF downloads to HTML views ratio to find articles that weren't necessarily the most highly viewed but were more deeply engaged with - the assumption being that downloading the PDF indicated greater interest from that reader.

Ich frage mich ja, ob die ganze Nummer mit #Altmetrics vs. kommerzieller Impact Factor nicht schon viel weiter wäre, wenn die Betreiber so mancher wissenschaftlicher OA-Repositories für Papers und Daten (inklusive Zenodo & Figshare) *endlich* mal die Zeit finden würden, die Open-Graph-Tags einzubauen, damit die geteilten Materialien im Netz nicht ganz so scheiße aussehen.

a year after the major migration scholars from Twitter to Mastodon, major #altmetrics services are not yet tracking mentions on Mastodon. What's their plan? Will they? Support Mastodon features, like privacy? Where is the transparency?
Or is the idea of tracking the dissemination process simply not sustainable?

"However, these are extreme cases, and the impact of [bot] activity on #altmetrics varies by speciality, with minimal influence in Arts & Humanities and Social Sciences.
