Cool. Look at the growth in #GhostCMS websites joining the open social web - these are new #Activtypub users. Ghost does support bridging to #Bluesky too, curious what those numbers look like.

@evan I voted “Mostly by network” as most platforms that we use implemented federation as they did not incorporate #ActivtyPub from the start (even if they embraced the idea within their respective spaces).

#Mastodon, #Misskey, #WordPress, #Threads, #WriteFreely, #Flipboard & #Pixelfed (I am naming the services I actively use) all added #Fediverse support after their debut.

I am trying to think of a platform that incorporated ActivityPub from the start. #Peertube maybe‽

As an example, this account is located on a #friendica server. friendica speaks #activtyPub, as many other software out there, yet it behaves different than #mastodon. For example it delivers notifications when other profiles comment on a post this profile commented on. So if someone else set's a reminder, unless it's done in DM mode, this profile will get a notification as for any other comment. Your bot is really useful but you should have in mind that it will interact with the whole #fediVese, not only mastodon. Over here for example at least in this version there is no option to change the publishing level to unlisted, followers only or DM. You just reply the same way the post or respective reply is set to. So there is no option to reply in DM mode for example.

From a #privacy point of view and considering hat most people aren't to tec savy I definitely consider you should set the default to DM and in any case create the option to request e.g "only followers 1 day", "unlisted 1 day" and/or "public 1 day" specifically. Other wise you expose the people to become "game" for data miners that simply have to check your toots and answers stream to pick up users and their interests. The fediVerse is very privacy aware and in my opinion you'll definitely earn respect by the community if you are excessively aware, careful and respectful on that matter.

Love your thoughts on what would be helpful and if anyting you have already built functions as such a test suite, or could.

So you have:

These settings can work. As for what SEO is doing - I don't have the experience with this particular conflict.

It does appear that your author link is redirecting to your homepage - and your homepage won't necessarily have the #ActivtyPub endpoint it needs to do its thing. The endpoints I believe are found on your 'blog index' page and the individual 'author archive pages' you aren't using.

Well, their own native Threads app doesn't support rich text now, either. So there's that.

Don't see any other gotcha's in their list of #ActivtyPub support, but am still looking. Oh and we REALLY need to get our act together on what quote tweet format we standardize on STAT.

One idea that #Threads does now we should learn from and directly steal: the ability to say in your settings that you can set @mentions to be from. You can choose to allow them from: Everyone, Profiles you follow, or No one.

That's a great feature. How feasible would that be inside #ActivtyPub?

For the last two days, I followed the Russian fiasco via Mastodon. There were some fantastic news sources. I occasionally checked Twitter, but I rarely go there, and without the 3rd party apps to just see my curated lists…it’s a hot mess.

With all the background noise about #mastodon and #activtypub , I am hopeful for its success.

Oh and #ivory and #icecubes rock!

I don't trust #bluesky. I don't trust Jack Dorsey's motives - never have. I don't like the way they basically started it as celebrity invite-only social rather than open everything right away. I don't like that they effectively tossed out #activtypub and all of the existing #Fediverse work in favor of building their own thing. I do not see myself being convinced to join them.

Am I just being a crank?

@atomicpoet Jimmy Wales said the next version of his Wiki-based social network would support #ActivtyPub (not at launch but on roadmap) and suggested it would be a replacement for some uses of Reddit (and Twitter)

Timely question: Does anyone know the status of a formal or informal building out an #ActivtyPub test suite, akin to the one used to test http://webmention.rocks but for Acitivity pub.

I know the activitypub.rocks effort ended & I see this - but seems abandoned.

Is there any other effort active?

So, the 503 is was getting with the #ActivtyPub #WordPress plugin was a false issue. turns out it was a domain redirect issue (ie, I was using xyz.cc instead of www.xyz.cc).

However, I'm still not getting my profiles when I use @[email protected] - I'm wondering if this could be a firewall issue with my host? Anyone know if there is a specific requirement for the ActivityPub plugin?

(FWIW - https://www.xyz.cc/author/xxx works correctly...)
