I currently own two bambu printers. I am also an Apple cultist. And what he’s saying here feels spot on: one of these companies will continue getting my business. The other? can’t die fast enough.

Our five year old "commercial technology" washing machine stopped working today. Thanks to DYI repair videos, I was able to run a diagnostic to see the error code and identify the clutch slider as the culprit (of course the manufacturer's website was of no use here).
I could have ordered a replacement part online for about 50 $CAD but the part design is so bad that I preferred repairing the broken part instead.
The steel ring around the slider is held with only six small plastic "pegs" about 3mm in diameter. Those pegs broke off from the repeated actuation of the clutch during normal operation (electromagnet exerting an axial force on the steel ring). I drilled small holes in the plastic slider in which I self-tapped 3x4mm set screws (aka grub screws). I slid the steel ring back on and backed out the screws so they would engage in the ring.

1/ Manchmal werden meine #RepairCafe-Bilder genommen. Hier überbrückt der Bastler gerade eine kaputte Sicherung mit einer funktionierenden, weil ich mit der falschen Sicherung ankam. Innerhalb kurzer Zeit ging die #Bose-Anlage wieder. Bose hatte sich geweigert, die zu reparieren. Es war nur die Sicherung. Komplette Stereoanlage wäre Schrott gewesen.
Geht mal in ein Repair Cafe. Lustige Typen machen lustige Dinge. Vieles kann gerettet werden.

Keine Cloud, kein Abo, kein „Server wird eingestellt, Gerät wird zum Briefbeschwerer“.Aktueller Prototyp läuft auf einem ESP32 WROOM. Für das Gehäuse habe ich eine Vorlage genutzt und diese Angepasst für das Relais-Modul und aus ASA gedruckt.
Ein Relais-Modul hängt parallel am PC-Frontpanel-Powerbutton.
Befehle gehen per MQTT an einen lokalen Broker auf meinem Homeserver.Niemand in irgendeinem Rechenzentrum kann mir die Hardware per Fernzugriff abschalten oder über TOS-Updates entwerten.
Die Box unterstützt derzeit zwei Kommandos: Kurzer Druck schaltet normal ein/aus. Langer Druck erzwingt einen Hard-Shutdown bei Hängern.
Für die nächste Version wechsle ich auf einen ESP-C3 – deutlich kleiner, günstiger und passt in viel kleineres Gehäuse. Strom bezieht es direkt über das ATX-Netzteil (Das liefert auch bei ausgeschaltetem PC 5V).
