#Olivenernte im #Westjordanland im Schatten des Krieges "gefährlicher denn je"
Die zunehmende Gewalt der israelischen #Siedler und die Beschlagnahmung von Land hindern palästinensische Familien daran, ihre #Olivenbäume zu ernten. Diejenigen, die es versuchen, riskieren, getötet zu werden.
Am Ende jeder Olivenernte im besetzten Dorf #Qusra im Westjordanland leitet Ibrahim #Wadi seine Familie bei der Herstellung von #Nabulsi-Seife an, einem #Grundnahrungsmittel vieler palästinensischer Haushalte, das nach einer jahrhundertealten Technik hergestellt wird. Er ruft alte und junge Verwandte zusammen und bittet sie, #Olivenöl aus ihren Häusern mitzubringen, damit sie es gemeinsam herstellen können. Während die einen helfen, singen die anderen, trinken und essen Snacks, was zu einer beliebten jährlichen Tradition geworden ist.Doch dieses Jahr wird es keine Seife geben.
Ibrahim Wadi, 63, und sein Sohn Ahmed, 26, wurden am 12. Oktober von israelischen Siedlern getötet, die nach Ansicht der Palästinenser die Konzentration der internationalen Gemeinschaft auf den Krieg im Gazastreifen ausnutzen, um ungestraft Angriffe im Westjordanland zu verüben.
Seit Beginn des Krieges zwischen #Israel und #Gaza am 7. Oktober wurden nach Angaben des palästinensischen Gesundheitsministeriums mindestens 190 Palästinenser im Westjordanland getötet - die meisten von #Soldaten, aber mindestens acht von Siedlern. In der Zwischenzeit wurde die gesamte Bevölkerung von mindestens 16 Gemeinden von Siedler-Soldaten-#Milizen, die ihre Dörfer Nacht für Nacht terrorisieren, gewaltsam von ihrem Land vertrieben. Als Ibrahim Wadi und sein Sohn erschossen wurden, waren sie auf dem Weg zu einer Beerdigung von vier Männern, die am Vortag von Siedlern getötet worden waren.
Schon vor dem Krieg hatte die Gewalt von Siedlern und #Armee gegen #Palästinenser im Westjordanland stark zugenommen. Zwischen Januar und September dieses Jahres wurden im Westjordanland mindestens 199 Palästinenser getötet, was nach Angaben der #UNO die Zahlen von 2022 übertraf und zum tödlichsten Jahr für Palästinenser in dem Gebiet seit 2005 wurde. In den Monaten vor dem Krieg wurden außerdem drei ganze Gemeinden aus einem Gebiet zwischen #Ramallah und #Jericho gewaltsam vertrieben.
Die derzeitige Gewalt der Siedler fällt in gefährlicher Weise mit der Olivenernte zusammen, die jedes Jahr zwischen Oktober und November stattfindet.
Die Siedler haben es in dieser Zeit seit langem auf Palästinenser abgesehen, um deren landwirtschaftliche #Existenzgrundlage zu zerstören. Seit 1967 haben Siedler mehr als 800.000 Olivenbäume im Besitz von Palästinensern entwurzelt. Die Verbrennung von Olivenbäumen und großen Teilen landwirtschaftlicher Flächen im Dorf #Burin in der Nähe von Nablus im Juli ist eine tragische Erinnerung an den anhaltenden Diebstahl. Doch die letzten fünf Wochen haben ein völlig neues Ausmaß an staatlich unterstützter #Siedlergewalt gebracht.
"Wir hören, dass die Olivenernte jetzt gefährlicher ist als je zuvor", sagte Yasmeen Al #Hassan von der Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC) - eine von sieben palästinensischen Nichtregierungsorganisationen, die von Israel in den letzten Jahren grundlos kriminalisiert wurden. Die #UAWC ist eine von vielen Organisationen, die Freiwillige koordinieren, die den #Landwirten bei der arbeitsintensiven Olivenernte helfen. Sie bringen auch internationale Freiwillige als Zeugen für die Gewalt der Siedler mit; ihre Anwesenheit kann die Siedler manchmal von Angriffen abhalten.
Aber da das Westjordanland derzeit unter einer ausgedehnten militärischen Abriegelung steht - die selbst für Israels harte Standards extrem ist - laufen die Siedler Amok.
"Dieses Jahr haben sie alle Gewehre. Letztes Jahr haben wir solche Siedler nicht gesehen", sagte Sara Wadi, Nichte des verstorbenen Ibrahim Wadi. "Früher kam ein Soldat zu uns und sagte: "Ihr habt 10 Minuten Zeit zu gehen. Jetzt ist das nicht mehr so. Jetzt kommen die Siedler mit Gewehren, schießen auf uns und sagen: 'Geht'."
In diesem Jahr mussten sie und ihre Familie sich beeilen, um ihre Olivenbäume zu pflücken, solange die Siedler noch nicht in Sicht waren, sagt sie. Es gab keine Festivitäten wie in den Jahren zuvor.
"Es hieß: 'Schnell, lasst uns gehen', und es gab Kinder, die Angst hatten ... [Wir mussten] schnell mit der Ernte fertig werden, damit wir gehen können, bevor die Siedler hierher kommen. Normalerweise bringen wir Essen mit, trinken Tee und pflücken, aber dieses Mal ging alles so schnell, weil die Siedler kamen", sagte Wadi.
Nachdem sie und die meisten ihrer Verwandten gegangen waren, blieben ihr Vater und ihr Onkel, um die #Ernte fortzusetzen, und wurden von bewaffneten Siedlern konfrontiert, die sie zum Gehen zwangen, so Wadi. Später in der Nacht setzten die Siedler #Bulldozer ein, um fünf ihrer Olivenbäume und den #Hühnerstall ihres Nachbarn zu zerstören.
Die Menschen sind sehr verängstigt".
Die zunehmende Welle der Siedlergewalt bedeutet, dass palästinensische Bauern, die ihre #Olivenhaine erreichen wollen, gezwungen sind, zwischen ihrer #Lebensgrundlage und ihrer Sicherheit zu wählen.
"Die Menschen sind sehr verängstigt. Sie wollen ihr Leben nicht wegen der Olivenbäume riskieren, aber sie sind wirklich hin- und hergerissen. Es geht um ihre Lebensweise, ihren #Lebensunterhalt und ihr Land", sagte Dr. Quamar Mishirqi-#Assad, Anwalt und Ko-Direktor der israelischen NRO #Haqel: In Defense of Human Rights.
Während die Siedler oft unter dem Schutz israelischer Beamter und #Streitkräfte agieren, haben die Palästinenser keine solche Absicherung.
Am 6. November forderte Israels rechtsextremer Finanzminister Bezalel #Smotrich - der auch als #Oberbefehlshaber der Regierung im Westjordanland fungiert - die Einrichtung von "sterilen #Sicherheitszonen", die Palästinenser daran hindern würden, Land in der Nähe von Siedlungen und reinen Siedlerstraßen zu betreten, selbst wenn sich auf diesem Land ihre Olivenhaine befinden. Die zunehmende Ausbreitung der Siedler im Westjordanland bedeutet, dass viele Palästinenser Ackerland in unmittelbarer Nähe der israelischen Siedlungen besitzen.
Mishirqi-Assad sagte, dass in israelischen #Facebook- und #WhatsApp-Gruppen Beiträge kursieren, in denen Siedler dazu aufgerufen werden, ihre Bemühungen zu koordinieren, um Bauern von ihren Olivenhainen fernzuhalten. In einem Beitrag wurde dazu aufgerufen, die Ernte gänzlich zu verbieten. Ein anderer schlug vor, die Bäume mit Chemikalien zu besprühen. "Ich frage mich, wie ihr Olivenöl schmecken wird", scherzte ein Mitglied.
Am 28. Oktober wurde Bilal Mohammad #Saleh, 40, bei der Olivenernte auf dem Land seiner Familie in As-Sawiya, einem anderen Dorf im nördlichen Westjordanland, in die Brust geschossen. Ein Siedler schoss vor den Augen von Verwandten auf ihn, und er verblutete noch eine halbe Stunde lang, bevor er starb. Seine Leiche wurde auf der Leiter, die er benutzt hatte, um an die Oliven zu gelangen, auf die Straße getragen, wie Zeugen berichteten.
Saleh hatte Oliven auf einem Teil seines Landes gepflückt, für den keine Genehmigung des israelischen Militärs erforderlich war, was für die meisten Bewohner von As-#Sawiya nicht gilt. Da das Dorf von allen Seiten von Siedlungen umgeben ist, ist ein Großteil der landwirtschaftlichen Flächen durch israelische #Militärrestriktionen blockiert, und die Bewohner müssen eine Genehmigung erhalten, um ihre Bäume zu pflegen.
Arafat Abu #Ras, ein Mitglied des Dorfrats und Freund von Saleh, trauert um seinen Verlust und sagt, dass er und viele andere in As-Sawiya nur zögerlich zu ihren Olivenbäumen zurückkehren. "Jeder im Dorf ist jetzt besorgt. Ich kann dieses Jahr meine Oliven, die in der Nähe der Siedlungen stehen, nicht pflücken, weil meine Familie Angst hat, dass ich gehe", sagt er.

Ce poisson est conservé dans le sel pendant un mois, ce qui cuit sa chair. Son goût est très prononcé et délicieux ! À défaut de poisson salé, certains optent pour du poisson fumé .
Malheureusement, ma famille n'a pas pu se permettre le feseekh cette année. Mais j'ai pris plaisir à y penser. Si Dieu le veut, nous le fêterons l'année prochaine.

We’ve raised $16,975 out of our original goal of $15,000.
Today, I was able to do an instant withdrawal of €7,500 of that ($8,768.79) from Stripe.
This morning, @joynewacc and I had the difficult task of prioritising today’s payouts from that amount. Our criteria were:
• Who’s most at risk (e.g., in Al-Shifa camp, etc.)?
• How can we help the largest number of our families with what we have on hand today?As such, I’ve just completed payments to six of our families:
• @baraaelmoghrabi: $2,000 (she in one of the most dangerous places (al-Shifa camp) and this will allow her to move South tomorrow. She will not have enough to rent a tent yet but she said they could stay in a school until we can get the rest of the money to her, which we will as soon as possible.
• @mittall: $2,000 to get a tent in the South (they are homeless right now).
• @shathamohammed123: $1,200 to move to the South.
• @doaagaza: $1,500 to move to the South.
• @bilal_mo: $1,500 to move his family to the South. He still needs $1,500 for a tent but he can house them with relatives for three days. We will get him the rest in time.
• @ghassangaza: $1,200 as she is about to be evicted. She borrowed $2,000 from a lender for a tent. We were able to negotiate with the lender. He will accept $1,200 and the remaining $800 later.
That brings the total we distributed today to $9,400. I covered the difference (~$630) temporarily from our account since time is of the essence.
We will get to everyone else tomorrow when I can withdraw from the Stripe pot again.
I also plan to update the site with the impact reports as we go.
Finally, as we are getting more details from some of the families and the ones we couldn’t contact due to Internet issues on the ground, the current estimate for how much we will need in the immediate future has shot up to $20,000.
So I’ve set the goal to that and we will continue the fundraiser.

How are you today?It's the anniversary of #Nakba 🇵🇸🍉🦋
The 15 May 1948 is when #Palestine was shattered into a million pieces. My grandparents and their families left our home village of Sumsum to escape murder, persecution and destruction. They had no idea when they would return, and they never returned.
I never touched the soil of their homeland or breathed its air. I never smelled the lavander and sage outside their home.

And two years ago, the same happened again in our newly built family nest in #Rafah.
Everyone in my family was born with a small, empty pocket near our heart, and we spend our lives trying to fill it with something.
Fill it with hope, perhaps. 🇵🇸♥️🫂🦋
