Vaya por delante que la película de Kyle Balda, que viene del universo Minions, no es de fórmula. Aunque el resultado de adaptar la novela sí suelta cierto tufo a plegarse a las reglas clásicas demasiado, hasta encorsetar la historia.
El público va al cine a lo que va -y busca en los catálogos lo que busca-, a menudo a que le den lo que quiere, otras, por suerte, a que le sorprendan. The Sheep Detectives no termina de dar ni lo uno ni lo otro, pese a inclinarse en mayor medida por complacer.
Y es que aun teniendo ingredientes del cine familiar y el whodonit cuya combinación brilla esquematizada sobre el papel, desarrolla y resuelve con el justo garbo una trama que termina resultando larga, unos quince minutos. O veinte.
A Las ovejas detectives les cuesta ir al grano (si bien el género detectivesco conlleva jugar proponiendo y deshaciendo pesquisas y sospechas) como les sobra adorabilidad y personalidad, invividual y de rebaño. Esa mancomunidad del olvido pudo haber resultado antológica y saltar a la cultura pop al menos en los meses de su peak en salas. Pero no hubo taquillazo. Algo -no- habrán visto les espectadores.
Y es entretenida y se deja ver. Además, por el camino expone a la familia, aboga por las segundas oportunidades, y habla de la pertenencia al grupo o de un asunto capital como la memoria: por qué olvidar es zombificarse. Lo que pasa es que esto también se sujeta con alfileres.
Ni siquiera hay actuaciones relevantes. Varias estrellas, ninguna destacable. La coralidad en este caso le hace una inesperada trece catorce autoinfligida. Braun despunta someramente.
La película es suficiente, solo que tenía enjundia para el notable, abarca mucho y con un ritmo a la contra. Es por esto que atufa, y no a cordero de invierno.
