@log @LordWoolamaloo it's not just CAFE, I believe it allows them to get around some safety requirements for passenger vehicles too, i.e. cars. But, IMO, the real reason they prefer to sell those large vehicles is profit margin.
As for having engineered their customer base to prefer larger vehicles, it's not a preference. You can't buy what they don't sell. That's why I'm looking into buying a 25 year old used Kei truck import. It's the only way to buy what meets my needs.
