Feeling gratitude towards this community. Just wrote my first #emacslisp advice ever.

A small thing, but it removes friction from my org-static-blog (recommended!) workflow.
These little steps forward are what make this hobby so much fun. And—you'll just have to believe me—the confidence to bork around like this comes from being part of this community.

TIL: defconst and defvar do not set a value if the symbol is already bound to a value. Which makes sense, but would confuse an unsuspecting goober who might be REPLing their way around a buffer making changes.

In the #nineties in #Pittsburgh #Pennsylvania my housemates and I ate for a month on a $100 grocery bill. One hundred dollars US per month, split four ways. Lots of beans and rice, lots of pasta and vegetables. We weren't vegan, we were just poor.
Oh, and rent was $1000 a month, split four ways.
I paid taxes on $6,000–$7,000 a year those years. It was a frugal life, but comfortable and fulfilling. Not at all degrading.
We did not know how good we had it.

My buddy, a dev, complained that code he wrote on a server that is still live no longer works. No staff or funding, so it'll never work again.
A "program," a self-contained selection of source code, is self-contained in only the most artificial, abstract, and banally false sense. Ask any curator of a computer museum. Ask any contemporary librarian. Ask the guy whose thankless job is to deal with Andy Warhol's Amiga artefacts.
The effort required to make something work from ten or twenty years ago may not even have a path to success.

TRIUMPH! The LAST and FINAL thing holding me back from completely moving to #Wayland was replacing #AutoKey for text expansion.
#espanso appears to replace all the functionality (at least that I use, although the scripting is not via Python). Happy!
NOTE! DEBIAN USERS! If you follow the instructions on the installation page, you get an old release that has dependency issues. Download the LATEST RELEASE 2.2.3 of the Wayland .deb
