  1. "The history of #Emacs completion frameworks is a progression from monolithic solutions toward composable ones."

This is a comprehensive summary, with a thorough and fair history. A long read, but worth it.

I plateaued at #Vertico #Orderless #Marginalia #Consult years ago. Maybe time to learn the others, one at a time.

  6. Ещё из последних новостей, я заменил company-mode на corfu + cape, добавил vertico и marginalia для минибуффера. Так же добавил swiper для стильного поиска на замену i-search и magit чтобы использовать git как про!

  7. Damn update of vertico seems broken as "Lisp nesting exceed 'max-lisp-eval-depth'" which on my system is set to 1600. Perhaps a recursion error somewhere?

  8. #Emacs users of #Embark and #Vertico need to switch to the multiform/grid display.

It's amazing, combining which-key like columnar display with completing-read filtering.

  9. I wonder why vertico-exit-input is not bound to anything by default, since it's a pain to enter something that is not matching otherwise.

  10. Can I make vertico to *not* apply to file path prompts? I kind of don't like hitting the filesystem with each keystroke, cached or otherwise.

  11. Enjoying playing with and under

Been busy with work but wanted to do some tinkering for myself and they're good. Need to practice and learn a bit more (as I'm not too fussed about making everything align with my expectations and am happy to learn new things).

Also loving how easy it is to rebase branches then selectively push commits to origin using the amazing glad my liberapay went through recently. Thanks again @[email protected] 👍

  12. Enjoying playing with #vertico #orderless #embark and #marginalia under #Emacs

  16. just some yak shaving #emacs, finally trying the switch from #helm -> #vertico, #orderless, #consult, #embark, #marginalia that seems to be sweeping the community. good start so far...

  21. @markhepburn I too switched from #company to #cape (and #helm/#ivy/#counsel to #vertico/#consult). I have to admit I haven't got the hang of #embark yet.

  22. 🔴 On today's stream we'll try to learn the "state of the art" in Emacs completions!

At the very least, we'll try to write a fresh Vertico configuration with its 1.0 release to see if we can gain any new benefits from it.

  23. @narusite

For completion, consider #vertico, #orderless, #selectrum, #marginalia and similar packages. I switched from #helm to orderless + vertico.

I still use helm for certain things (yanking, for example).

  24. @ascott I'm curious what does #vertico bring over #counsel/#ivy? Considering #ido was considered the pinnacle of selection frameworks when I strated using #emacs we do seem to have a plethora of narrowing options now.

  25. Given that #Vertico mode is having a bad day, I think it's time to try #Helm. #Emacs
