But I've seen some outside of an educational context as well. This one is absolutely horrific. It's another case of a #lawyer using an LLM to generate #court filings of one type or another, without even checking its output to see if the brief makes sense, cites actual case #law, etc.
This is a #sanctions order from a #judge in this particular case. It is gripping reading.

An opposing #counsel contacted their firm about such an incorrect citation, and the firm did some cleanup, did some continuing legal education, instituted an "AI" policy, instructed the #attorney about what was forbidden, etc. And then that attorney ... just kept on doing it. Even after judges started noticing problems in submissions, this lawyer just kept doing it.
It was so bad that it basically caused the #implosion of the law firm.

A #jury found on June 27 that two directors breached their fiduciary duty of care to the bank and hit them with a fine, but a fraction of the $27 million sought by #litigants. “The jury only awarded damages amounting to less than 3% of what the plaintiffs were seeking—$800,000, instead of the $27 million requested at trial. That’s essentially a slap on the wrist from the jury,” said defense #counsel Evan Stroman, a partner at #DiazReus.

Neither the campaign nor the companies themselves reported specifically what the money was being spent on.
The #Campaign #Legal #Center filed a complaint to the F.E.C., accusing the Trump campaign of using the companies as “#conduits” to #conceal other vendors.
The commission’s #general #counsel recommended that the F.E.C. find that the campaign had broken the law by misreporting payments, and begin an #investigation into the Trump campaign’s relationships with vendors and subvendors.
But the commission #deadlocked last year in a vote on the matter, which meant no action could be taken.
The Campaign Legal Center sued the commission, but a federal judge — while expressing sympathy for the desire of transparency — dismissed the case late last year, saying that the commissioners had discretion.

Former Donald Trump campaign official #Mike #Roman is cooperating with prosecutors from #special #counsel Jack Smith’s team in the ongoing #criminal #probe related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN.
