When i first heard about #exwm from #systemcrafters i thought i need to give it try but i was using wayland and it didn't have anything like that at a time. now we can lot of things similar to it
one being
https://github.com/emskin/emskin
emskin wraps Emacs inside a nested Wayland compositor so that any program — browsers, terminals, video players, etc. — can be embedded into Emacs windows as if they were native buffers.

For what it is worth, I think these are documentation problems. I am a total Linux noob. About a year ago I began to research and explore lots of Guix adjacent topics: Unix, functional programming, scheme, Emacs, etc..After several weeks of recreational #systemcrafters bingeing, I decided to give Guix on bare metal a try. I ran into all the usual hurdles. In hindsight, an up-to-date guide would have made it easy.

My mate @GeeTee and some other cool #SystemCrafters cats have built an internet radio station, Asteroid Radio: music for hackers, built by hackers.
Asteroid Radio is a community-driven internet radio station born from the SystemCrafters community. We celebrate the intersection of music, technology, and hacker culture—broadcasting for those who appreciate both great code and great music.
It's quite good and they're actively developing it, give it a listen and get involved.

@daviwil #systemcrafters #sigil I’m really excited to see what sigil could actually be. I really envision a flutter like UI kit using #scheme and able to compile to wasm. Is there any interest with #prescheme , possibly have sigil compile down to C?

I knew I wasn't taking advantage of the power of multi-path undo possibilities in Emacs but it never clicked with me, until I found
vundothanks to @sacha's recent post. This package visualizes the undo history as nodes that you can traverse and diff in a very familiar git branch paradigm. Quick post: https://shom.dev/posts/20250622_undo-finally-clicked-with-vundo/

🔴 Today on #SystemCrafters Live, we'll start building a web-based MUD (multi-user dungeon) using Guile Scheme and Spritely Goblins!
We've laid the ground work on the most recent Crafter Hours stream, so this stream will be where we really start working on the game logic and try to build a fun game from scratch.

🔴 Today on #SystemCrafters Live, we'll experiment with Spritely Goblins, a Guile Scheme library that provides a distributed programming model for writing secure, asynchronous code that can be called either locally or across a network.
Let's try it out to see if it might be a good fit for the Spring Lisp Game Jam next week!

🔴 Today on #SystemCrafters Live, we'll take a look at the `org-transclusion` package and investigate the ways that it can be used to dynamically assemble Org Mode files from other text, source, and Org files that you have on your system.
Writing a book? Writing a literate Emacs config? This package might be useful!

Last year I started a webring like it was 1999 with the System Crafters community. And for its first anniversary I wrote a blog post about How I accidentally got better at self-hosting and FOSS contributing.
Sometimes you don’t have to wait for someone else, you can be a catalyst. Happy Birthday Craftering!
Thanks to @daviwil for fostering a great community and to @kern for building Ringfairy and being so encouraging.

Could it be!? A ball cap that fits my giant noggin? Goes great with my neck beard.
#systemcrafters thanks @daviwil

@NWengrov Which one? The IRC link?
"ircs" is a provisional IANA URI scheme. (read https://www.iana.org/assignments/uri-schemes/prov/ircs and more here https://www.iana.org/assignments/uri-schemes/uri-schemes.xhtml).
It is recognised by my Mozilla Firefox web browser as a link to the #systemcrafters channel on the Libera Chat IRC network. More information on Libera Chat on https://libera.chat/ and about Systemcrafters channel here https://systemcrafters.net/community/#chat-with-us.

Yes! My #emacs init file is finally my own. Brought over the last few modules from the crafted-emacs config over to my own setup. Feels so good to have a complete overview over everything emacs in one location :-) Extremely grateful to the #systemcrafters community and @daviwil for making the emacs transition so much easier for me, especially on the focus on creating a config that is _supposed_ to be superseded by a personal config when you get more experienced...
-
Curiosity got the better of me. Installing #guix on my spare laptop right now, using #systemcrafters image...

🔴 Today on #SystemCrafters Live, we'll take a look at `jj` (Jujutsu), an interesting distributed version control system that intends to be more user-friendly than Git while having even more advanced features.
Can `jj` be a good replacement for Git in the long term? Let's find out!

Unfortunately tonight's #SystemCrafters stream won't take place because I came down with some kind of virus overnight.
We'll be back next week with another Crafter Hours stream on Monday/Wednesday and the usual stream on Friday!
In the meantime, check out the video I just posted about using the `match` expression in Guile Scheme!

🔴 Today on #SystemCrafters Live, we'll take a look at Gubar, a program that powers the status bar in Sway using the power of Guile Scheme!

My crafter pub friend @BigEatie came out swinging with an excellent first post¹ on his brand new blog. I love it when tech folks share their other interests and they intersect and enhance it with FOSS. I learned some cool things about chess. Thanks for sharing!
If anyone is on the fence about blogging and sharing your hobbies, please do! Take back the open and human web!

If you have been thinking about joining the System Crafters¹ webring but didn't have a site, now it should be pretty easy and I'm happy to help you integrate Craftering² (powered by Ringfairy³ from @kern, or start your own!).
Actually, I probably should add a custom footer overlay example to the starter site*, already sliding down scope creep slope.

🔴 Today on #SystemCrafters Live, we will write a custom Org export backend that will convert Org Mode documents to Scheme! The goal is to produce equivalent documents in the Skribe format used by Skribilo for Scheme-hackable document production.
Is this a good or bad idea? We'll find out!

Trying to make @yasnippet work nicely with #companymode. There seems to be a backend company-yasnippet to be hooked into company-mode. Anyhow I don't understand how to properly use it with use-package. Esp. since the docs of that backend include women warning.
Any tips?

🔴 Today on #SystemCrafters Live, we'll discuss a major change I'm making to my Emacs configuration: the total removal of Evil Mode. We'll hack on my configuration a bit to figure out some ways to smooth out the transition.
Can I kick the habit, or am I forever possessed?
