  1. I started calling myself "trevdev" before Covid, before the AI bubble, 11 years ago when there was only one other competing trevdev. That person decided not to contract anymore and even let me take their domain name.

Not that it makes a difference, though. If I search up "trevdev," I'm at least near the top of a bunch of Treveloper Developers.

  2. I finally moved my CV off of and put it onto my website :)

It even has the only feature from LinkedIn that I cared about: Telling people how long I've done anything. I just sprinkled a little moment.js into my scripts to make it more fun.

I'm very happy to have deleted the last "popular" social media thing I had left. LinkedIn is a garbage website.

  4. RE: fosstodon.org/@trevdev/1165415

This is going really well. I've survived a week without a smart device on and in my pocket all week.

Yesterday I had to go help a client. I looked up their address and wrote directions down on paper. I found them pretty easily. My wife is happy to be on the receiving end of "why are you on your phone all the time???" for once.

I've replaced the charger for my digital camera and am loading a cheap MP3 player up with music. The cost of what I really want is $200, phone included.

  9. @trevdev You might want to give a look at nvim-orgmode:

And if you don’t mind a slightly different approach, Neorg is really impressive:

When you know it's dark why suggest it then?
There are options that respect human rights. Letting people die knowingly can never be no option. In fact that's what's happening right now as we type: Because a few people cannot let go of their luxurious lifestyle and system is designed to make them even richer (moneywise) people die in other parts of the wourld.

Science have known this #ecocrisis for decades but politicians have missed out on #ActNow and #TellTheTrueth

  12. My laptop is almost 11 years old now. Since I received it, I've replaced the keyboard, the memory, the power supply and the battery.

I've still spent less on it than I have "smart phones".

  20. The holiday season is all about going from "wow it's pretty cool you can just whip that up" to "I don't really think anybody should drink that much eggnog" with your wife.

  21. I switched from org-roam to denote. What was my compelling reason to do so? Less weight, more portability.

I also pruned the metanote/backlink implementation which allowed me to shed almost 100 "notes." They only existed for org-roam-ui and were otherwise just a lot of noise in the signal.

Denote even has its own graphing feature with `denote-explore-network` from the `denote-explore` package. It's static and requires no server.

  22. Could it be!? A ball cap that fits my giant noggin? Goes great with my neck beard.
