A PC I purchased at the end of 2019 suits me well, yet with all this fairly modern tech I still use my ASUS Xonar D2X soundcard from 2008 - yes a 14 year old soundcard! Still works and sounds amazing.
Not sure I need the EAX 2.0 support today, but amusing nethertheless. Remember EAX folks?

Not sure why 30fps for Starfield is causing such online craziness
- 30fps is a perfectly reasonable target for a console game that spans a universe and is pushing fidelity
- 30fps has been used on many consoles historically if they really want to push the bar
- No we don't need an "Xbox Series X Pro" - due to COVID & hardware shortages we haven't pushed the current hardware, with so many multi-generation games released (Xbox One & Xbox Series X) -

Trying hard to preserve my HD DVD format collection, a format that lost to Blu-ray which had great potential but sadly didn't last long.
The Xbox 360 sold a HD DVD add on for £99 which included the HD DVD drive and King Kong on the format. I'm using this plugged in via USB on Windows to back up the discs. Mostly successful, except for this Heroes box set where disc rot has taken a grip sadly.

vswitchzero has a number of #3dfx, #matrox and #intel projects and repairs that I've really enjoyed watching. I had no idea that reflashing a BIOS on a graphics card could resolve so many issues!

The SEGA Dreamcast VMU is still such a cool thing!
When else was there ever such a fantastic way to store saved games and also include a display that you could play a little game on or view additional information while playing the console game on the TV when the VMU was connected to your Dreamcast controller.

I never thought I would see the day when I can connect my original Xbox to... Xbox Live! A service that shut down in April 2010 for the first generation Xbox console.
Thanks to @insignia, I can connect to their free Xbox Live service specifically for original Xbox games from nearly 20 years ago.
Now where did I place my original Midtown Madness 3 disc???
Fun times are coming, with a massive dose of online gaming nostalgia.

Although I've been previously enjoying games through the OSSC to upscale to a much larger 4K display, still love that CRT look on an actual CRT TV.

I enjoy the remake of the original Halo available on the MasterChief Collection for the Xbox One, but there is certainly a different atmosphere.
The original just felt more alien and mysterious to me, where the newer version is all about detail and therefore raises the overall lighting level to view it all.
Not knowing what's in the distance or hiding around the corner has a power all of its own...
