Got into the #retropc stuff to make a #3dfx demo on some old #3dfxvoodoo2 and Athlon X2 3800+ I had still lying around.
Just booted #windowsxp from a SATA SSD and boy is it fast. Imagining the #windows kernel isn’t complete crap, I do not get, how they could f**k up #windows10 and #windows11 so bad.
OK there might be some more essential services running, but we have GPU accelerated rendering, x-time CPU performance and x-hundred times storage transfer speeds, which should offset any new essential features… #windows #3dfx #demoscene #retropc -

Damals war das für viele ein echtes Upgrade. Spiele sahen plötzlich besser aus, liefen flüssiger und 3dfx war einer der Pioniere im 3D-Gaming.

Roughly 25 years ago I bought a #Voodoo 5 graphics card, about 10 minutes before #3dfx went tits up. I was gutted after spending £200 on something that wasn’t going to be supported for too much longer.
After getting rid of that PC years ago and having seen the amount of money these are worth today, I’m wondering if the box of old shit I’ve got in the attic might actually be worth something.
Anybody want some old VGA cables and a PS/2 mouse missing the ball?

Heh! Never seen the original. Well, neither #2 but that was all the hype for a while. I got a Voodoo 3 2000 PCI back in the day. I still have it somewhere and I wish that I didn't get rid of its box. Oh, well.

Por mí actividad aquí, creo que se nota, y se va a seguir notando, que tengo un fin de semana tranquilo, pudiendo dedicar tiempo a mis aficiones.
Hoy he empezado a leer un libro que compré en #RetroParla hace casi 2 años, directamente en el puesto que tenía montado su autor, Martín Gamero. Quizas en el próximo evento pueda decirle que ya me lo he leído 😅. Fantástica persona, por cierto, y siempre nos echamos unas buenas charlas.
No lo he dicho, el libro es "El legado de 3dfx".

Hat jemand ganz zufällig ein Handbuch für die Creative Labs 3D Blaster Voodoo 2 über? Hab nach langem Suchen endlich die Box gefunden und jetzt alles bis auf das Handbuch zusammen, damit meine Voodoo2 wieder komplett ist. 🙂
