The “real fun” of #StarbornArchives is building a deck using your favourites quickslots
Starting with the #FreeLanes update, I started using the quickslots exclusively for quantum essence and Starborn powers. I wanted to take advantage of the new vanilla features to get as close to the #Apotheosis mod as I could (all my superpowers at my fingertips with as few clicks as possible)
But since so many of the Starborn Archives cards can only be cast from a quickslot, I figured, “No, the right way to use this mod is to build and tweak a deck, just like I would with a TCG IRL.” And now I have access to some pretty cool lore-friendly Starborn powers that are more reminiscent of biotic abilities from the Mass Effect series.
Oh right, and I can also deploy Terrormorphs as xenoweapons. Muah-ah-ah-ah-ahhhh

Starship combat with #Manticore is also much more difficult than #ExtremeMode
Imagine, if you will, the total insanity of taking on a large incoming #Watchtower fleet with Manticore. I just splashed 26 ships in a mindbending 3D dogfight, with the hostiles using that extra dimension almost as well as I do, while being a lot tougher. I had to stay ahead of their fire and shake off missile lock immediately, looping in and through and around them to keep out of the crossfire, because (as I learned very early in trying Manticore) once shields are broken the ship is trashed after 1–3 hits.
It’s asymmetric warfare all the way, without any clear advantage to exploit but your own wits during daredevil maneuvers. You can’t adopt a brute force approach, because you can only have a max of 9 fleet ships so Watchtower will always have you outnumbered; since the Vanilla game only allows you to own 10 ships at a time, that’s where the mod caps it too (even with mods like #Darkstar installed that increase your owned fleet capacity IIRC).

I never thought I’d say this, but...
Independently, #StarbornArchives, #Manticore, and #Watchtower are amazing #StarfieldCreations
But put them together (especially with #TerranArmada), and it’s all just too much.

If you thought Vanilla+ Starborn Ambushes were bad (or just plain irritating, most times), you should see the ambushes in the #StarbornArchives creation
They come out of the walls
They come out of the ground
They come out of thin air
You can’t escape them
No place is safe from them
They’re seeping out of the cracks and folds of the multiverse, lookin’ to rob you blind
I mean, that’s what competing for the Artifacts boils down to in the first place. It just feels a lot more petty when it’s for your trading card collection. Even if it is… cough cough… more relatable.

#Manticore is a surprisingly good tactical combat overhaul #StarfieldCreation
I’m not going to sit here and say I love everything about it, but overall it does exactly what it says on the tin and provides “brutal, fast-paced combat encounters” far beyond Vanilla+ #ExtremeMode

Huh. Turns out you CAN boost yourself into orbit with the #MoonJumper if gravity is low enough.
I’m pretty sure it’s a cell boundary glitch, because it acts more like rising to the surface of a large body of water than exiting the atmosphere into space, but… still… suddenly you’re looking at the curve of the horizon and just floating there.

Went on an all-out rampage across the Settled Systems, mostly hunting Ecliptic on Ka’zaal, but faced off against plenty Zealots, Spacers, and Crimson Fleet pirates too
And using the sleep-on-Venus trick to reset all vendors, grinding hard to pawn off all that loot, I just broke 10-million credits

Meanwhile, I really gotta get around to building the Armillary somewhere defensible; these constant Starborn-ambushes from carrying the artifacts in my inventory are starting to get out of hand—growing in size as well as frequency

Château des Étoiles is all mine, and was on a roll apparently because I managed to earn another 2.5 million credits in the same sitting. So I’m still a #SettledSystemsMillionaire in Universe 12 (NG+11, Level 236) even after dropping all that cash on a textbook boondoggle.
Is it worth the 5m? Not really. Especially knowing exactly what grind I’ll have to go through to get it again in every following universe. This is like the infinite mortgage all over again—but worse.
Still, it presents a new challenge mode for every universe: how early in the narrative can you get the mansion?
