Reading "Proud Boys and the White Ethnostate: How the Alt-Right Is Warping the American Imagination" by Alexandra Minna Stern (2019).
Very well written: fascinating, disturbing and revealing.

Each chapter of Proud Boys and the White Ethnostate explores a core dimension of the alt-right and white nationalism, highlighting what makes the alt-right new and old. "Conservation interventions on objects are the most obvious changes arising in conservation practice: whether altering the rates of decay, making a repair, or revealing information, the tangible or intangible aspects are changed. Beyond this there are several realms in which conservators could deliver change: from change in their own approach and practice, leading change in teams, changing the institution and finally changing broader social structures."

DONALD TRUMP AND THE RATIONALIZATION OF TRANSGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR: The role of group prototypicality and identity advancement by Ben Davies, Carola Leicht and Dominic Abrams (2022).
"Overall, the present study identifies the rationalization of transgressive leader behaviors as a novel pathway to their continued support. We also identify identity advancement as a key driver of this effect. These results provide an important extension of deviance credit and indicate that the role of group prototypicality in the context of group serving leaders may need to be reconsidered. These results also have worrying implications for the nature of transgressive leadership and demonstrate how unimpeachable such leadership may become once it is established."

"As a consequence of its performative turn, the critical literature on populism has dedicated increasing attention to its sociocultural and stylistic features. Among the most prominent concepts underpinning this approach is the notion that populism relies on the “flaunting of the low” or the use of “bad manners.” This article engages in an extensive discussion of the way this concept is used in the literature and showcases its main limitations. In replacement, I then suggest the alternative concept of transgression, understood as the violation of a norm, which has the substantial advantages of being more flexible and versatile as well as less reliant on a normative binary".

"Artex, a new "online stock exchange for art", offered its first initial public offering (IPO) in an event at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London last night—Francis Bacon's Three Studies for a Portrait of George Dyer. The painting last sold at auction in May 2017 for nearly $52m and will be offered to investors starting at around $55m. Dealings will begin on 21 July."
"All works of art—or art IPOs—are owned by Artex, which will issue the shares, worth €100 each. These shares can then be bought, sold or traded on a secondary market on the Artex exchange. For the creation of a Documentation Centre to show the horrors of Nazism, the building was not reconstructed, but left unfinished with the red brick exposed. In addition, a new structure was built on top of the building, placed perpendicularly, so as to simulate a "glass and steel stake" that is running through the building (Sharon Macdonald, 2006).
