I absolutely recognise what you are saying. Producing useful things, skillfully with well-chosen means, comes with an aesthetics all of its own, and there is no need to call the result beautiful.
For me personally, "beauty" is a concept I could not do without. I guess I use it as a shortfhand for a complicated bundle of resonances that make a thing important and valid. For instance, in my own academic work (not art-related at all), when I write a piece I will never release it until I can look at it and say to it "oh, you are beautiful".
A long time ago I spent time on the theory of aesthetics, including Friedrich Schiller's famous essay. I'd have to revisit the texts to refresh the ideas, but my own naive summary is that "beauty" occurs when I see a thing as what it is.
I love the potterty pieces you show in your posts, and to myself I'd call them beautiful. I have no reason or right or wish to make you use the word! :-)
