@arroz @luisfcorreia For a Pixels Camp challenge a few years ago we had to use quite an overkill setup to get our 48K to load stuff from "tape".
It just didn't like any modern playback device unless we carefully tweaked the output levels.

My suggestion for small communities is to start native.
But be respectful to foreign residents – i.e. embed english translations into your promotional media and be upfront that the spoken language will be mostly portuguese. Also, always ask your speakers to have the slides in english.
When things get larger, english may or may not become more prevalent.
Still, don't make your portuguese speakers feel pressured to speak in english. This is a very common occurrence.
-
But the language barrier also impacts the audience...
Even those that do OK in english will spend a considerable amount of brainpower to sustain a conversation. Not to mention that they'll also be less inclined to ask questions.
Foreign residents don't usually have this problem because it's no different than speaking english in their everyday lives. But they can't provide critical mass for local communities to take off.
Think globally, yes, but act locally.

There are cultural reasons for this but, be warned, from observing a number of meetups struggling over the years, I've come to the following unpopular conclusion...
When you discourage communities from operating in the local language, you're killing them before they even get a chance to start.
Embracing folks that don't speak portuguese is an honorable goal, but one that must be balanced with embracing folks which struggle with english – i.e. most locals.

#portrait study. I was going for a Leyendecker vibe, but I guess it turned out more ZA/UM- influenced. Well, all really big, respectable shoes to try and fill. #procreate #gameart #illustration #mastoart #artodon #art

No broken kettle can stand in the way of a man and his instant pasta pot. 🍝
Once more, a case of overheat caused by oxidized connections. No significant melting this time, just enough deformation to break contact. Easy fix with some sanding and careful bending. It required a deeper disassembly than I expected, and some attention to keep the safety features in place.
E-waste avoided. Pasta consumed. 👌

There were a few old computers at @inercia 2023, but one in particular piqued my interest: a Silicon Graphics Indy.
The Indy is an entry-level workstation from 30 years ago, but this one appeared to be running a fairly recent Linux distro... weird. 🤔
Turns out it's actually a modern PC on the inside. And not a hacked Indy chassis either: only the plastic exterior is original Silicon Graphics, the metal parts are custom built. Nice. 👌

Spent this Saturday at @inercia 2023 and it was a lot of fun. I'm a complete outsider to the demoscene but it was great to talk to interesting strangers and old acquaintances alike. 🤗
It wasn't a big event but I hope it becomes one. It certainly has the proper vibe. 🇵🇹
Special kudos to @afonsus who made an impressive MOD-playing badge around the RP2040. 💾 💯

Ok, quick #music question: I'not that much about #country, but I LOVE #Snakes (link below), and would love to find more stuff like them. Already know #16horsepower, which has the "dark country" thingy I sense here, but I really like the punkish energy of these guys.
Suggestions?
Thanks a lot, people!!

"Sculley was prepared to go through with licensing [the Windows GUI for Apple] and had some wheels in motion toward this end, but Gassee rejected the plan."
That would have resulted in a very different timeline indeed. Although there were Mac clones for a while, and that didn't pan out — actually, Steve Jobs killed that shortly after returning to Apple.
