  1. I participated in a Stacks #crypto test a few years back and was granted a small amount of #STX for my participation. It's not much, but I was keeping it at #Okcoin.

Recently I received an email informing me that Okcoin was rebranding as #Okx and what is odd is that I have to withdraw

all my crypto from Okcoin and then deposit it into Okx. Ummm, why? Isn't it the same business?

In any case I'm going to withdraw it but planning on moving it elsewhere.

    Weird.

  2. "Sometimes it is more loving to allow someone else to experience the natural consequences of their actions, even when it is painful for us both. In the long run, both of us will benefit. Today I will put love first in my life."

  4. I've been thinking I need a #fun side project for when I'm not feeling working on big things. I have the source #code for a few old #DOS #games I've hacked on a few times.

The games were written in #QuickBasic (and it's predecessors) and in the past I've used #QB64 to get them running natively on Windows....

Now I'm thinking of using an #LLM (e.g. like that powering #github #copilot) to translate the code into a modern language.

  5. @jimstewartson Didn't have time to dig into this deeply enough, but an interesting (old) thread on Hacker News on whether #PFT was suggesting women should not be allowed to vote: news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1

  6. current #SearchEngine results are frustratingly poor for "medical imaging", "learn medical imaging", "medical imaging for software engineers", etc.

They tend to focus on commercial companies, paid college degrees, and machine learning.

Yet another reason I'd like to build a better search engine. 🙂

BTW, if you happen to be working in #MedicalImaging with programs such as #VTK or #ITK, I'd love to follow you!

  7. #question of the day: I'm looking for an automated means of setting up an alert if a #Google #Workspace user sends over x emails per day? I know there are Rules, but I can't seem to find a way to create a rule for a user's outbound emails.

  8. I'm a sucker for #StateOf posts. Lee Robinson (of #Vercel) has a concise article on the state of #databases for #serverless and #edge I enjoyed: leerob.io/blog/backend

  9. I remember on @NPR / @wnyc hearing a bit about a woman who was preparing to die (from some chronic, ill-defined #illness) and then she stumbled on a bee's nest and got stung all over and her symptoms got massively better...so now she walks around with a little box of bees she sticks her hands into occasionally so she can get stung.

My question, does this work with #fireants? I have them in abundance and they are the most aggressive little buggers!

  11. right now it seems that #WSLg applications don't respond to #Windows #snapping commands. Curious if anyone knows a way to get around this or if this is coming to #WSL anytime soon?

  16. I've loved #wsl for a long time, the availability of #wslg on #windows10 and integration of #systemd only exponentially increase my fondness. kudos to the folks at #microsoft.

  17. it's interesting working on projects in #MedicalImaging, there are far fewer resources than I anticipated. For example, web-based viewers for #pathology images? #OpenSeaDragon or #GeoJS. At least that is what I'm seeing...

Books on web #development for pathology images? None.

There are a few cool projects that aren't web-based, for example #QuPath, but still!

(I suspect this may be due in part to the #grant #funding nature of many projects in this space)

  18. @anildash I'm surprised there hasn't been more of a move towards #DeSo. I wonder if there would have been if they had stayed #Bitclout? While flawed, I think it was/is an interesting idea...

  19. I'm somewhat surprised that there hasn't been more hubbub around using #DeSo (formerly #Bitclout) as a replacement for #Twitter: deso.com/

I haven't been super active on it recently but I do think they where able to overcome some of the scaling issues it seems #mastodon instances are / will face.

  20. I'm thinking about possibly running a #polyglot #coding #conference in my local area.

I've got thoughts and some resources I intend to tap into, but wanted figured I'd tap into the #wisdom of the #fediverse while I'm at it. 🙂

I'm primarily interested in building up the #local #developer community.

If you happen to live in the #augusta #georgia / #csra and have thoughts, I'd love to hear them as well.

  21. @qoyyuum I think human augmented is key. Not suggesting that the machine-based data science should be replaced, but augmented. This has been attempted before but never successfully (e.g. #Zakta, Jimmy Wales' #Wikia), but I think it could be successful if a trust network layer was built in. #search

  22. so #gutters - the kind that you put on a #house to direct the rainwater careening down your roof. curious if anyone has thoughts? particularly interested in combining reasonable cost with eco-friendliness?

    (some initial ponderings)

    - Could I pipe the water from the gutters and create a small pond (like, really, really small)?
    - Could I pipe the water into containers to use for watering the lawn?
    - Should I get gutter covers to keep the leaves out?
