  1. I have made the mistake of looking at Spanish greyhound adoption websites. 🫤 My cat won't let me have one.

  2. Does anyone have any recommendations for reliable options to Kobo on for backup purposes?
    Calibre + Abode Digital Editions work nicely on Windows but ADE doesn't appear to be supported natively on Linux & I'd prefer not to install Wine or an equivalent (no, I don't want to debate this point, thanks).

  3. Does anyone have any recommendations for reliable options to #DeDRM Kobo #ebooks on #Linux for backup purposes?

  6. Feeling a bit snotty 🤧 this evening so dinner is a big bowl of noodle-y soup 🍜 & comfort-watching the recording of the tram driver world championships 🚊

  7. I don't think this nitwit is entirely enjoying #FrogLeapStudios live stream but she's also refusing to leave the room so who knows.

  8. Has anyone flown with their #pet into the #EU (since Brexit, if from the UK)?
    I'm trying to find out some info on what happens when you land at the EU point of entry - do the officials just check documents (Animal Health Cert, etc) & scan the microchip to verify identity, or does a vet do a check-up of the #animal?

  9. Less than reassuring that #EdinburghAirport is showing tomorrow's flights as an hour later than they actually are, presumably because their system hasn't been set up to handle DST/BST correctly. No indication on the site re what timezone they're displayed in & I wonder how many people will miss or be scrambling for their early morning flights as a result of this. And of course it filters through to a bunch of 3rd party sites that scrape from the airport departures data. 🙄

  14. Does anyone know if #sugru is heat resistant enough to use on the barrel of a hair dryer?

    The glue blogging world appears to have been taken over by AI crud 🙄 (one article told me that 350 degrees Fahrenheit is more than halfway to the boiling point of water*) so I'm not finding anything trustworthy there.

    * Look, I'm no American & I don't trust their weird-ass counting systems but even I know that's a bit off...

  15. Managed to #repair an annoying rattle in my old #Aeropex (a common problem with the older models apparently) using a small hand-drill & some #Sugru, prolonging their life & saving them from becoming #ewaste. Sound & microphone are working fine after the #fix & I'm feeling proud of having saved myself approx. €130 (the difference between the cost of the repair kit vs a new pair of headphones).

  16. I've heard of mainly in the context of starting or switching tasks, but I wonder if it could apply to environments too. One thing I've found is that every time we move flat, I find the flat hunt the most stressful part because I have to *invest* in the potential new place we apply for. I have to see myself living there & I start imagining how my life will change to accommodate it. And until the contract is signed, I'm all nervy because my new reality might shatter at any moment.

  21. As someone who grew up in a small town & hated it, didn't find my weirdos til university, & views traditional family as ripe for toxicity, I find what I've heard of the #Basque #cuadrilla fascinating, particularly the potential failure modes.
    What if your entire cuadrilla dies or emigrates, are you just left on your own like Billy No-Mates? What if you outgrow the people you knew in school or vice versa? What if they're just assholes you no longer want in your life?

  22. I usually don't enjoy being an asshole to my co-workers but occasionally one comes along who weaponises incompetence to such an extent that repeatedly batting them back with logical answers they can't refute becomes a malicious joy on my part. Especially if the fucker earns more than me.
