#Greyhounds have slinked off to bed leaving me to play some #NewRecordDayFriday #music. I poked around in #roon #Qobuz interface finding a #DaveBrubeck #LiveShow #recording from a 1953 gig at Oberlin College, noted for its music school. Dave’s #TakeFive #quartet plays #StraightAhead in this new release. Current rights holders are vault diving. But this is a nice set in a good small hall that was well recorded.

During the night, around 3AM, I was startled awake by the sound of what I, correctly, assumed was Benson startling awake and falling off the couch. Leeloo was also alerted to the noise. Benson came in my bedroom and I inspected him, but he seemed fine. Checked the camera and confirmed my assumption. He went right back to the couch to go back to sleep.

This morning he’s having a good morning as though nothing happened during the night.

Benson has, basically, resorted to just jumping over the step when going down from the porch. This is a bit concerning because if he misjudges the jump, he could hurt himself, as he’s done in similar situations in the past (like when I learned what “degloving” is…don’t look it up if you don’t know).

He’s climbing up it fine, though. Still getting used to it, but figuring it out.

Just wish he’d walk down it normally.

I noticed when Benson was pawing up to the new step, he was trying to get purchase to pull himself up and it was more slippery than he liked. If he hopped up, as he was with the leash, then no slip.

I found a doormat that should be grippy, without being aggressive and uncomfortable to their paws. He apparently pawed up to get purchase and pulled himself up while I wasn’t looking.

So I might have finally finished the step!
