🏴🚇⌚ #Strathclyde Partnership for #Transport (SPT) will consider extending #Subway operating hours following its modernisation, including new platform screen doors and unattended train operation. The proposal faces a committee meeting this week.
Under the plan, Monday–Thursday timings remain 06:30–23:30. Friday and Saturday services would run until 00:30, roughly an hour later than at present. Sunday services would see the biggest change, running 06:30–23:30—starting 3.5 hours earlier and finishing 5.5 hours later than the current timetable.
SPT states this responds to long-standing demand for better Sunday connectivity. The plan accounts for maintenance and staffing, with union discussions underway regarding revised shifts for station, driving, and engineering teams. A two-year review is proposed to monitor passenger demand and costs, ensuring the extended service remains safe and financially sustainable.https://www.spt.co.uk/about-us/news/proposed-new-subway-opening-hours/ -

🇮🇪 The Government has launched two five-year plans aimed at reshaping Ireland’s #transport system. Announced by the Department of Transport, the Moving Together strategy and the Sustainable Mobility Policy (SMP) Action Plan 2026–2030 set out measures to tackle congestion, cut transport emissions and expand travel options nationwide.
The SMP Action Plan contains 95 actions, including delivery of major public transport schemes such as #MetroLink, BusConnects and DART+, alongside investment in walking, cycling, shared mobility and rural connectivity. Moving Together focuses on cross-government action to reduce congestion and improve air quality, while supporting climate goals.
The plans also back electric vehicle infrastructure and aim to balance the needs of commuters, businesses, rural communities and vulnerable road users, with annual progress reports promised.

#Transport for #London has appointed SSE Energy Solutions to develop #solar installations that will supply #renewable #electricity directly to the Tube via a private wire network. The scheme could generate up to 65,000MWh a year — around two-thirds of the Victoria line’s annual demand — cutting reliance on the National Grid and helping stabilise energy costs. The solar sites, likely to include ground-mounted arrays and rooftop panels near the network, could save more than 27,000 tonnes of carbon over 25 years. TfL, London’s largest electricity user, consumes about 1.6TWh annually and aims to run entirely on renewable electricity by 2030. The deal supports its wider energy purchasing strategy, including power purchase agreements, and forms part of efforts to #decarbonise operations, expand zero-emission #buses and improve #energy efficiency across the network.

🚌🇵🇹 CaetanoBus is leading the world’s first #hydrogen Bus Rapid #Transit (BRT) consortium headed by a bus manufacturer, marking its shift from vehicle producer to #mobility solutions provider. The project supports the launch of #Metro do Porto’s first hydrogen-powered #BRT corridor in Porto.
Under a single-contract model, CaetanoBus coordinated vehicle supply, green hydrogen production, refuelling infrastructure, solar energy generation, depot energy management and long-term maintenance. The system includes 12 H2.CityGold 18-metre #buses using #Toyota fuel cell #technology.
The integrated structure centralises accountability, aiming to improve reliability, reduce complexity and lower total cost of ownership. CaetanoBus plans to expand the model with a pay-per-use offer, enabling operators to access fleet and energy infrastructure on a per-kilometre basis, reducing upfront capital costs.

🚄⚽️ Stevenage FC and its Academy have formally adopted #Stevenage #railway station in partnership with Thameslink and Great Northern. A plaque was unveiled on platform 5 by MP Kevin Bonavia ahead of the Boro’s 2-1 win over Stockport on 28 February. Under-12s handed out artwork and safety posters they designed, and will help plant flowers in the club colours. Thameslink and Great Northern have supported the Academy for 12 years, providing free travel for players and collaborating on community campaigns. The initiative aims to deepen the club’s engagement with the local community, with a job swap seeing a young player record a station announcement while the rail company’s announcer attended the match, playfully adapting the “See It. Say It. Sorted.” message.
