Day passes going up 26%
(Round-Trip passes were cut last year)
Other passes 14% (Distance based)Some station pairs (commonly taken by commuters) are already over 250$ for a monthly pass
And there is talk of greater service cuts :(

🇮🇪 The National #Transport Authority (NTA) has published its updated Climate Action Roadmap, highlighting continued progress in reducing emissions and improving energy efficiency across Ireland’s public transport network and operations.
The report outlines the transition towards lower-carbon #travel, including the rollout of zero-emission buses, ongoing benefits from electrified Luas and DART services, and efforts to improve rail, coach and Local Link services. It notes that transport remains a major source of emissions and that further action will be needed to meet climate targets.
The roadmap also highlights investment in public transport, walking and cycling, major projects such as BusConnects, DART+ and #MetroLink, and measures to improve climate resilience and biodiversity. The NTA says continued collaboration, innovation and investment will support a cleaner, more efficient and sustainable transport system.

I got Deutsche Bahn'd twice today by #MetroLink thanks to #GoPass sucking out loud. Walking time predictions assume traffic signals cooperate, which means they're short even for a fast walker going downhill (like me, on my way to the bus stops), but then told me to get off at a closed stop. It also told me to get on after work at a closed stop and there's no sign at that stop to indicate that it's closed. 0/3 with transit and this new job.

🚈🇮🇪 KeolisAmey has been awarded the next generation Luas Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contract, valued at €1.3bn, by #Transport Infrastructure #Ireland (TII) and the National Transport Authority (NTA). Starting 1 September 2026, the contract runs for seven years with an extension option. The contract includes a new timetable with extra services during peak times from 2027. Transdev will help transition to KeolisAmey, with most staff expected to transfer under transfer regulations. KeolisAmey operates similar services such as London’s Docklands Light #Railway and #Manchester #Metrolink. This contract supports the continued expansion of Dublin’s Luas network, including the planned extension to Finglas. The contract will improve service capacity and reliability.

🇮🇪 The Government has launched two five-year plans aimed at reshaping Ireland’s #transport system. Announced by the Department of Transport, the Moving Together strategy and the Sustainable Mobility Policy (SMP) Action Plan 2026–2030 set out measures to tackle congestion, cut transport emissions and expand travel options nationwide.
The SMP Action Plan contains 95 actions, including delivery of major public transport schemes such as #MetroLink, BusConnects and DART+, alongside investment in walking, cycling, shared mobility and rural connectivity. Moving Together focuses on cross-government action to reduce congestion and improve air quality, while supporting climate goals.
The plans also back electric vehicle infrastructure and aim to balance the needs of commuters, businesses, rural communities and vulnerable road users, with annual progress reports promised.

The Link Union Station project creating run-through service will be as transformative for regional rail in Southern California as the "Downtown Connector" has been for Metro Los Angeles.
Imagine frequent run-through service between Chatsworth and San Bernardino or between Lancaster and San Clemente.

Der zweite Artikel von mir temporär ohne Paywall zu Weihnachten. Der Flughafen Dublin (Aerfort Bhaile Átha Cliath) aber auch die Stadt (Baile Átha Cliath) bekommt ihr eigenes U-Bahn-System: Metrolink. Bisher gibt es dort nur Straßenbahnen. Interessanterweise ist Metrolink auch ein essentielles Element um Beschränkungen des Flughafens aufzuheben.

#Transport for Greater #Manchester is working with Stockport Council on a business case to extend #Metrolink from East #Didsbury to #Stockport, with the first stage due to be submitted to the Department for #Transport in 2026. As part of the plans, an underused rail line through Denton is being examined for a possible tram-train link, which could connect Stockport with Tameside and Manchester Airport. Local leaders, including Mayor Andy Burnham and MPs Andrew Gwynne and Navendu Mishra, say the proposals could significantly improve connectivity and support economic growth. Construction of the core extension could begin by the end of the decade, subject to approvals and funding. The work forms part of Greater Manchester’s wider ambition to expand the UK’s largest light rail network and deliver a more integrated transport system.

Ugh, every 410 stop in Kendall-Whittier is closed for the Lewis Avenue repave and one of the buses broke down, so the last service of the day, leaving ORU at 6:33 is the next bus on that route. So I'm taking the Aero instead. Nonzero chance I finish the walk from Independence Street Station home before the 410 reaches Lewis Avenue Station.

Minister for #Transport Darragh O’Brien has secured Cabinet approval to establish a new statutory body dedicated to delivering #MetroLink. Operating under the Minister’s remit, the body will manage the project’s construction and delivery, reflecting its national importance. Minister O’Brien thanked Transport #Infrastructure #Ireland (TII) for advancing MetroLink through planning, design, procurement and consultation. The decision follows An Coimisiún Pleanála’s recent approval of the MetroLink #Railway Order and the Government’s commitment to fund the project through the Infrastructure, Climate and Nature Fund. A Department of Transport working group, including TII, the National Transport Authority and other departments, will now examine the practical and legislative steps required to create the new organisation. MetroLink will support 31,700 new homes and serve areas from Ballymun to Lissenhall, improving access to key destinations and #Dublin Airport.

Trying to reconcile #MetroLink's data with #OpenStreetMap using #GOSync and it seems this has taken long enough I just need to resolve conflicts and refresh data before continuing because my offline data is starting to get significantly out of sync and I still have about 1000 bus stops to check.
