Handblown, the chimney is also a handle, kept cool enough for bare hands by the "steam stopper" that sits inside. Well, hellooooo there. What a spunk. One of the two satyrs holding up the arch at the Palazzo Carafa della Spina which for some reason is NOT in the guidebooks. Maybe he's just too darn hot for guidebooks - you'll note he's been restrained with some iron bands.
At the bottom of the arch are two water monsters, probably upcycled from Roman columns. Overall it's pretty spectacular.

Trying my #homebrew #Dunkel again after a while. Mashed with double #decoction, only Munich malt with a little Carafa Special 3 for colour, and Perle hops to balance. Has rich caramelly malts with plum and raisin touch, crusty dark bread, soft herbal hops. Still going strong after almost too extensive lagering.

The din still reached us even though we'd arrived before the after-work crowd and gotten a screened-in booth. Maybe I should have picked a less popular place, but they stock my favorite drink, top-shelf Satsuma imojōchū.
I waved for more shochu—we'd gone through the first carafe quickly, so I'd gotten another. I planned to get plastered.
"Slow down. They won't run out.”
I didn't respond, but instead poured myself a drink and took it in one swallow.
"Why pay for good imojōchū if you're just going to guzzle it?"
I shrugged and poured another.
Kao reached out, put his hand on mine, and stopped me. "Okay, tell me what's wrong."
“Nothing.”
“Don’t give me that. As your sister and co-wife, I demand that you tell me.
"No."
"Okay, as your friend, I’m asking.”
I looked at Kao, trying to stare her down. It was none of her business, but my vision blurred, and a tear trickled down my cheek. "I haven't heard from Tomo. It's almost Christmas… I wanted… together.”
She let go of my hand, but the glass stayed where it was. I waited.
"Yep, you've got it bad, don't you?"
She poured herself a drink, but left it sitting. Then she resumed, "He’s a tsundere; you’re going to have to ask him.”
"I can't."
"You asked Shiro, and she was a stranger."
Kao topped off our drinks, then proceeded to take out her phone. "He's probably busy fixing that old house they inherited and training to keep their kami happy. You’re going to have to bell the cat, or should I say the tsundere.”
She dialed his number, handed me the phone, and then knocked back her drink. "Ganbatte!"
I put the phone to my ear and heard it ring. Then, Tomo’s voice said, "Moshi, moshi."
I swallowed. "Christmas?" I swallowed again. "Are you free?"

I made a Horsey Marcheschi and a nice brown circle today... well technically its a few days in the making, as I also pulled the glass and mixed the phosphor and poured it in an all.
These are new colors. Totally custom! I really should start taking better notes- its just tricky when people have a bin of different colors of bar for free- who knows what is what? I guess photo journal.
Now I really want a silver and gold version of this- making amber and pink respectively. I think I also want another funnel- I think I am getting cross contamination.
I am thrilled, and so is Ali. I think we are gonna blow glass on Monday and I shall help her make some carafes and trophies and things and she will pull some tubes with me! I am excited!
I guess I should just go ahead and coat a bunch of tubes to bake out. I shall use the mixes while they are good.
