  1. Palm Springs carspotting today. I pulled into a parking spot at Aldi and had this rare (to me, anyway!) Porsche 944 cabrio for a neighbor. (There's a view from behind in the first comment)

A white convertible with a navy top and interior is one of my very favorite color combinations for a car -- my e30 convertible was the same.

  2. Only 19 years ago, HP offered costly high-bandwidth videoconference rooms, hosted at their offices, under the Halo brandname. You would book time, connect to colleagues in a similar room in another location, and "sit" across the table. It was a big deal, with a dedicated HP video network. Thanks to fiber and 5G, it's obsolete now and you do it from your phone for free.

Your Signal call, thanks to the miracle of infrastructure.

  3. Do you ever love a book so much you slow down your reading of it because you just don't want to get to the end and leave those characters behind?

That's how I am with the new season of "All Creatures Great and Small." PBS Passport (streaming access for min $5/month donors) lets me binge watch the whole season, but I'm allowing myself one episode a week so it won't be over yet.

  4. Happy Thanksgiving, Mastodon friends!

We are having our celebration tomorrow evening, when our whole family can be together here in the desert.

So today, I prepped the turkey, made stock , and made this really pretty pecan slab pie from of the (gift link to the recipe)

  5. It's a grey day in the desert today. Clouds have parked right on top of the San Jacinto Mountains.

It reminds me of the scene in "Close Encounters" when the aliens surround Devil's Tower with clouds as a cloaking device. No giant spaceships have appeared...yet.
