Invasive black mustard is sprouting twice in 2023 in Los Angeles. In a normal year there's a single crop that dies off and becomes a serious fire hazard if not cleared. This year, thanks to the bonkers amount of rain dumped by the remnants of Hurricane #Hilary, we're getting a double dose of invasive non-native weeds...which of course includes tumbleweeds.

Been seeing folks breathlessly claim that the newest disturbance in the Eastern Pacific will be a repeat of #Hilary
Extremely unlikely. It was a unique confluence of patterns that sucked that tropical system towards #socal - overcoming the easterly trade winds.
Also, hurricanes leave colder SSTs in their wake. So if the system does develop and follow the same path, it won't have the fuel needed to intensify enough that it'll survive as a TS through the colder socal waters.#CAwx.
