I've seen #DisclosureDay, the latest movie by #Spielberg - his 2nd installment of #CloseEncounters (1977), if you will.

Way too much (US) pathos, weird religious philosophy, black & white thinking all the time, strange dialogs and worst of all: a universe of #plotholes everywhere. Really, as if nobody proof read or some fancy AI wrote the script. 🤷

No idea, how this got 83% on Rotten Tomatoes or 7.5 on Metacritic.

Biggest disappointment since #TheExpendables. 😔

I wonder if the orange idiot's alien revelation webpage has something to do with this movie start.

Okay, crowdsourcing suggestions of video clips to use for the background video during my dance at Norwescon this year, which has the "First Contact Galactic Gala" theme: First contact scenes in movies/television.

Off the top of my head, some obvious ones:

- Vulcans arriving on Earth in Star Trek: First Contact
- The mirror universe version of that scene from Enterprise
- Many scenes (particularly the end) in Close Encounters of the Third Kind
- The UFO over Mulder in some X-Files episode (and there are probably many other X-Files scenes)
- A few scenes in E.T.

Any suggestions for others? (Bonus points if you can provide episode names or numbers for TV show suggestions.)

Recently I watched Close Encounters of the Third Kind on TV (my laptop) and marvelled at the old computer room with banks of tape machines. On reflection I realised it was the first time I'd seen that all the way through.

What tech would you like to see if there was a remake?

WHY THE JUMPSUIT CREW?

do they ever say explicitly that there has been a UN or USA mission sending messages to the aliens telling them if they bring back the abducted people, they get in exchange some of the best and brightest to take with them?

is that why the aliens come to drop all those people?

also, the composition of that crew is problematic as fuck

The French guy in the #closeencounters is meant to be Jaques Valless.

A french astronomer who is one of the most respected experts in the world on the #phenomenon

While working for the Paris Observatory he started his career with filming an object in earth orbit in the early 1960s, ...a film promptly confiscated by the Government.

I'm pretty sure he was a consultant for Spielberg because many #uap details track with other facts about the phenomenon.

OK this may or may not be for real my last post about Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, but since i was reminded of the disco version of the fanfare, went looking for the soundtrack and came across John Williams’ own mashup for the Boston Pops.
