  1. This weekend's discovery: in the Object File Format (.off), which is used for representing 3D geometry, it is entirely possible to have vertices defined in the file that do not form part of any face.

Thankfully, my code was very easy to fix once I realised what was going on, though that did take a large chunk of my weekend, since the problem only manifested in circumstances that made everything take a long time to check.

  5. I'm trying to decide where to submit a paper on computational geometry. As a matter of principle I'd obviously like it to be open-access, but I can't afford to spend several thousand pounds on it, the way Elsevier et. al. would like me to. On the other hand, I'd also like to avoid places that are so low-circulation that nobody would end up seeing it.

Does anybody have any suggestions or advice? I'll be self-funding any costs.

  8. After seeing so many posts about the RustNL conference, I have started to with that there was a county with an ISO-3166 code "LE", just so that we could one day we could see toots about :)

Or maybe it could be an online conference - "Rust Low Energy", where nobody needs to get out of bed to attend.
