my research is archival/text-based/hermeneutic. I get pushback (from reviewers) for claiming 'my research shows' or 'provides evidence of'. In each case, I base my empirical conlusions on what I read.

I'm glad I left the site 'formerly known as' a while back now and that the jury's still out on the best academic social media platforms. For now, I'm sticking with #MastodonAcademic, although I know many who are on other platforms. Personally, I can't keep up, and wonder if building fewer but stronger and perhaps more diverse or like-minded synergies is a way to counter information and mental overload. On verra.

Who else is doing research on artificial intelligence and academic writing that is policy and ethics-oriented?
Please boost, if you can, as I am hoping to reach #interdisciplinary voices & approaches to this, especially from the so-called #GlobalSouth, namely communities that don't seem to be getting much of a look-in right now on this 'western' concocted concern.

Dear #MastodonAcademic, have any you budgeted for *writing time* when applying for research funding? I've never seen a grant bid that does so, which suggests that writing is not recognised as the #MethodOfEnquiry it is and is not accounted for in grant time. For example, budgeting for a #WritingRetreat or a project assistant to ensure grant holders have time to at least draft for the dissemination of their findings would seem reasonable to me but ....?#ResearchWriting #AcWri #HigherEducation

each server has its own admin, rules, ethos, focus and local community.
I was on mastodon.uno to start with, an Italian server. I got an email about 3 days in saying they weren't happy with me posting in English. I therefore changed instance/server, even though I could follow/interact with anyone.
Being on an instance is a bit like belonging to a family or university - fine to talk to others, but 'whilst living under my roof, my rules', maybe? #MastodonAcademic

So far, I'm finding my sciences.social local & #FediVerse timelines - not just who I follow - worth consulting.
Having recently moved from maston.uno, which wasn't happy with me posting mainly in English, I'm finding my new host instance allows me access to much #MultiLingual knowledge.
I get & respect that each instance has its own ethos & prerogative. I also appreciate the (relative) ease with which we can switch instances.
I'm ok with #masto, so far ... 🙂
