Hey there, I am Prathamesh Deshmukh, a PhD scholar at UGC-DAE CSR, Mumbai, working in condensed matter physics. My research focuses on magnetoelectric coupling in multiferroic composites and their dielectric, magnetic, and neutron diffraction studies.

Beyond synthesis, I specialise in scientific instrumentation. I designed the Advanced Transport Measurement System (ATMS), a low-cost cryogenic setup for precision transport measurements, and developed PICA, an open-source Python suite for lab automation.

I will be completing my PhD this year and am seeking postdoctoral research opportunities that would leverage my expertise in experimental physics, scientific instrumentation, and software development.

I find appalling that West universities are so silent about this, and many still cooperating with Israeli universities, while schools of arts and humanities like the one I'm doing my PhD fill their mouth of "class struggle, decoloniality and [insert your favourite academic leftwing jargon].

PS: These universities seem to be saying: "We accept the growth of the APC model. We just need help paying APCs." They don't take any responsibility for steering authors toward high-prestige, high-JIF, high-APC journals, and don't acknowledge their ability to change those incentives while upholding their historic standards of quality. They could say instead, "We will revise our research assessment (promotion and tenure) procedures to focus on the quality of research more than where it is published." Insofar as universities succeed at shifting those incentives -- admittedly a long game -- authors could submit work to no-fee or diamond OA journals, bypass APC-based journals, and face no blowback from their P&T committees. All researchers and research institutions would win, including those institutions that now want govt help in paying APCs.

I'm regularly thinking that it would be useful to have a tool that helps me find articles that cite a paper to contradict (or at least "contrast") its result.

It seems that scite [1] does this but they requires a pretty steep subscription given that I'm not sure how reliable their tool is and that they also advertise a chatbot...

3) The other larger project we'll do in Intro to Public History involves #HistoricalMarkers.

Students will learn a bit about historical markers, where they come from, some of the discussion about their uses and abuses, etc. Then, they'll study historical markers in our specific region and consider them in terms of historical representation and narrative.

With that background, they'll be invited to either revise a group of current markers or to create a new set of historical markers around a particular event or theme in local history.

If all goes well, they'll do some sort of digital tour to bring their markers to life.
