Nachdem das alte #Notebook von Sohn nun endlich den Geist aufgegeben hat, ist der junge Mann auf ein #RaspberryPi #3B+ umgestiegen. Ich musste nur ein #VGA-HDMI Kabel nachkaufen und nun kann er sowohl seine BlingBling leuchtende Kombination aus Tastatur und Maus sowie den bereits in Nutzung befindlichen Monitor verwenden. Mit dem WLAN Dongle ist der #Freifunk Router plötzlich gefühlt 30x schneller als vorher auf dem Notebook.
Was soll ich sagen: Sohn ist soooo happy und hat solchen Spass an dem Teil, ja, das macht mehr als Spaß

In the year 2025, business-class laptops need to be designed to run at full power with the lid closed. We've been using these things as mobile workstations for 15+ years, and "you need to run it with the lid open for proper air circulation" is NOT acceptable.

Ich habe nicht lange rechnen müssen, und eigentlich war es mir von vornherein klar:
Ein #Notebook verbraucht deutlich weniger #Energie als ein #Desktopcomputer.
Nachdem heute der #USB zu #HDMI Adapter, für den Anschluss eines zweiten Monitors, angekommen ist, habe ich komplett umgestellt.
Damit dürfte ich den #Stromverbrauch um rund die Hälfte reduziert haben.
Die #Monitore, Tastatur und Maus sind gleichgeblieben, sodass die Umstellung ganz einfach ist. -
What's your favorite note taking app on desktop?
Mine is a text editor with plain `txt` files. I have a three files for different scopes and I have one always open. I use it as a wiki but just in plain text. The only formatting I use are empty lines to separate groups of notes,
I'd like to apologize to authors of all those shiny note taking apps for neglecting their work. 🤷♂️

Silly me brought my heavy #NotebookComputer (too heavy for the lap so, no, it's not a #laptop) but left the power adapter. 🤦♀️
So I had no choice, and there realized that my 7-year old #SurfacePro3 is still good for work. 👍
And yet I'm thinking of getting another* computer 🤪 to keep in my old home so I can just pedal 🚴 back and forth and not need to keep bringing the heavy notebook 💻 and 🚗. 🤔
The Surface Pro and notebook 💻 go together because 1 is a backup. Must have a backup. ☝️

When using #notebookllm sometimes I want to add the sources linked from the original source, but it is very tedious to click through and grab all of the links.
So I created a small project that is a simple web interface that take a link, then uses the Jina API to extract the original source's content, and all of he linked content, as Markdown. It is all downloadable as a zip, which can then be uploaded to NotebookLLM.

Google’s NotebookLM now lets you talk to its AI podcast hosts
Now NotebookLM is rolling out the ability for users to interact with the AI podcast hosts.
You can use the feature by first creating a new Audio Overview, tapping the “Interactive mode (BETA)” button, and then hitting play. From there, you can tap “Join” when you want to ask a question. A host will then call on you to speak.

After holding back for a long time I finally gave in to the notebook llm and was i overjoyed and disappointed severely within the span of 18 minutes. Input was a 72 pager document. First 12 minutes were gold and then remaining 5 came out as hallucinated content out of no where. #notebookllm

Notebook LM
大規模言語モデル(LLM)やAIというとOpenAIのChatGPTが代表的なものになっていますが、いわゆるBig Tech各社もそれぞれしのぎを削っている分野であり、GoogleではGeminiというLLMの開発が進められています。そのGeminiを使ったアプリケーションの一つにNotebook LMというものがあり、昨年6月に日本語にも対応して提供が開始されています。
このNotebook LMというのは「AI を活用したリサーチや執筆する際のアシスタント」とされていますが、様々なテキストやPDF、URLなどを入力として与えると、それらの内容をまとめてくれたり、内容に関する質問に答えてくれるというものです。これは私がブログ記事を書く時にあちらこちらの記事を調べてまとめ上げる手順でも役に立ってくれそうです。
しかし、私が面白いと感じてご紹介したいと思ったのは、音声概要という機能です。
音声概要では、「2 人の AI ホストによる深掘り型の活発なディスカッション」という形式で、ソースの主要なトピックが要約されます。
ということで、与えた資料についての対話形式のポッドキャストを作成してくれるというもので、非常にそれっぽい会話のやり取りでそのまま公開しても良さそうなものです。ただ、今のところは英語でのみ作成可能というのが残念なところで、早く日本語でもできるようにならないものかと今から待ち遠しく思っています。
実際にどのようなものができるのかというと、試しに私のブログの前回の記事、「姫路城入城料 市民以外2.5倍に」のURLだけを与えて作ってみたものがこれです。

いかがでしょうか。語り口や間のとり方、抑揚の付け方などは極めて自然で、数年前までの合成音声と比べても隔世の感があります。途中何度か謎の番号を読み上げるところは機械っぽく、フィンガープリント的な感じでわざと入れているのかとも思えますが、それ以外はまったく不自然なところはありません。内容的にも私が記事に書いていないことにまで話題を膨らませていて、あの程度の記事で10分以上語ってしまうというのはむしろ私にはできないことです。この調子でブログ記事を書いてそれをポッドキャストにして配信したら面白いのではないかとも思いましたが、どうでしょうか。Notebook LMの無料版では1日に作成できる音声概要は3つまでとなっており、過去の記事をポッドキャストにしていくというのは難しそうですが、これから先のもので試してみるというのはいいかもしれません。とはいえ、そんなに需要があるとはそもそも思っていませんが、やはり日本語でないとダメでしょうね。
