  1. For this year's Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day I'm hoping to run a couple of sheets of FPP's Mummy 400 through my diy 4x5 pinhole camera made from a cardboard oat tube.

  2. I use Wallabag to save articles to read later, typically on my phone when I find spare moments. It works well, but it's not the most pleasant experience reading long-form on a phone.

After seeing a post from @benbrown showing his xteink e-reader, I picked one up hoping I could somehow use it to read my Wallabag saves. Turns out Calibre can subscribe to the "undread" RSS feed Wallabag exposes, and export them to the device.

Much better, I love this little thing!

  3. Benny Bleu and his friend Titus pickin' on an Amtrak was the start to my day I didn't know I needed.

  4. @ai6yr WOAI San Antonio has been live streaming and doing well with coverage.

  5. Got my hands on a long reach stapler. It makes creating pocket notebooks quick and easy.

  6. made it to my timeline today, and an image I made over the summer came to mind.

The layered pattern of the walls of a 3d printed concrete structure caught my eye so I got close using a little Agfa Isolette II folding camera and Illford HP5.

  7. A beautiful clear day allowed me to get out and try and adjust the rangefinder of this camera's rangefinder.

The top cover was simple to remove exposing the rangefinder adjustment screw.
Turning the focus to infinity and pointing the range finder at a distant object I was able to turn the adjustment screw until the images aligned.

Now to put another test roll through it to see if the focus matches.

  8. A few shots from the initial test roll.

Good news is the camera seems to be functional and the shutter speeds seem correct. Bad news is the range finder does seem to be off slightly.

I think a more precise test is in order, and then maybe look into the possibilities of calibrating the range finder on this thing.

  9. Put a roll through an old (new to me) Mamiya 6 folding rangefinder camera. It shoots 120 film at both 6x6 and 6x4.5, and has an interesting focus mechanism that moves the film plane rather than the lens.

Aside from some cosmetic dings, it seems to be in pretty good shape. Though the rangefinder seems like it may be out of alignment.

Excited to get this roll processed and see how it's shooting.

Texas typically has a dismal voter turnout, and I'd love to see the results were that not the case.

The Texas Tribune has an excellent voter guide. No endorsements, just what you need to know to vote in the state.

Oct 7th is the last day to register, and at this point I encourage you to do so in person to ensure you make it in under the deadline.

If you're in Texas and able to vote please do!

  11. Ran a couple tests of a soda can solargraph setup, and the results are encouraging. These were 2 day exposures on Illford multigrade paper.

I'm thinking I'll follow up with at least a week long exposure, and maybe take more care in positioning for a good frame.

  12. Spent the afternoon hanging out at Blocktober fest at Redbud/Batch/Oddwood here in Austin, TX.

Enjoying an Industry Pils from ABGB as the evening fell and things cooled off.

  13. Had a hell of a time getting a LimeSDR Mini working with Gqrx on my Arch box. Wrote up how I finally got it working so I don't have to go through that again, and maybe help someone else having trouble with it.
