It should be obvious, but if you're considering an #XTEINK e-reader, the X4 Pro is the way to go.
Other than the backlight, while they don't discuss the spec, the X4 Pro is an ESP32-S3 while the older devices are ESP32-C3.
The big difference is the PSRAM; the older devices choked on large books. The Pro doesn't.

I love my #XTEINK 4 (with a Pro 4 getting here soon) and this is a great resource for anything and everything you can do with these devices.

Świetne urządzenie! Umożliwiło mi czytanie prawie w każdych warunkach (o ile jest odpowiednie oświetlenie, bo niestety nie ma podświetlenia ekranu). -

Mam trochę pecha. Bo gdy w końcu opisałem czytniki Xteink, to model X4 został wycofany ze sprzedaży. 🤷
Za to ruszyła promocja na jego mniejszego brata X3, w której mamy 15% zniżki i etui gratis. To wszystko za ok. 260 zł z przesyłką do Polski.

The news that the Xteink X4 is officially getting discontinued and is now end-of-life makes me really glad that I bought one recently. I suspected that this might happen and partly made the decision to buy now instead of waiting a bit more.

Okazuje się, że tak. Malutkie i dość tanie czytniki Xteink mają coraz więcej fanów.

Just got the XTEink 4 Pro. First impressions: backlight and touchscreen are nice and intuitive. Stock firmware is still awful and immediately replaced with CrossPoint. POGO pins are a bad idea. USBC/Pogo adapter keeps falling off.

My X4 arrived and it is amazing! I installed CrossInk on it and used „Send to X4“ to put some of the Magic: The Gathering short stories on it that I want to catch up on.

I'm not surprised that Onyx Boox is trying to make a competitor to XTEINK but I'm curious about the price point and software.
I got my X4 for 55 USD, hard to beat that price. But if it has a better software experience I might pass this one on.

My experience with the X4.

Przed urlopem (jakoś na przełomie czerwca i lipca) kupiłem rewelacyjny produkt, który od jakiegoś czasu jest viralem na #Reddit - #czytnik #ebook'ów #Xteink X4. To mały czytniczek, który z Chin (#Aliexpress) kupiłem za jakieł 230 zł. Trzeba było na nim zmienić soft (na #Crosspoint), bo fabryczny to krzaczki, ale to dosłownie wgranie jednego pliku na kartę pamięci i restart urządzenia.
Mieści mi się do nerki, kieszeni, a nawet można go przymocować do telefonu wykorzystując #MagSafe (ma wbudowany w obudowę!). Czyta w zasadzie tylko #epub, ale to mi akurat odpowiada.
Jedyne wady jakie znalazłem to brak podświetlenia ekranu (spory minus przy słabym świetle) i wodoodporności (fajnie by było poczytać przy basenie i się nie martwić, że jeden niewłaściwy ruch i po nim). Zaobserowałem też delikatne blaknięcie ekranu na pełnym słońcu, ale to były ektremalne warunki - na plaży przy 35 (niekiedy nawet ponad) stopniach.
Teraz wyszedł jego następca X4 Pro, który ma już podświetlenie i ogólnie jest trochę zmieniony (dotykowy ekran, inne ułożenie przycisków, większa bateria itp.). Jednakże kosztuje już 380 zł + cło i w dodatku jest wyprzedany. To już nie tak atrakcyjna cena i raczej ten nowy model się nie przyjmie, ale X4 mogę polecić jak ktoś potrzebuje mieć mały, tani czytnik zawsze przy sobie.
