  1. 136 - X-Factor Annual #5 - 5/15/1990

Contrary to the cover text, this actually Part 3 of Days of Future Present.

Cover by Jon Bogdanove. Interiors by Louise Simonson & Bogdanove.

  2. 022 - Shatterstar

Fun look to this, almost like an animation cel.

The regeneration callout on the cardback is interesting; it's not wrong, but it's not something that got directly mentioned a lot in the comics.

  3. 135 - X-Factor (vol. 5) #10 - 5/14/2025

This weird, awkward iteration of X-Factor came to a merciful close one year ago today.

Cover by Greg Land. Interiors by Mark Russell & Bob Quinn

  4. I remember being so excited when Power of the Force was relaunched in 1995. But it turned out I already had the figures, in the form of He-Man and friends. ☺️

  5. Me and @adam.reck breakdown the big(?) reveal in Uncanny X-Men #28 and talk some more about how Luciano Vecchio is just operating on a higher level right now.

  6. 134 - X-Factor #7 - 5/13/1986

The debut of Bulk and Glow Worm!

And also Skids and Trish Tilby.

Cover by Ron Frenz. Interiors by Louise Simonson & Jackson Guice.

  7. My four favorite covers from April, featuring Chris Bachalo, Sal Buscema, Ron Frenz and Mike Mignola!

    Which one is YOUR favorite?

  8. 019 - Shadowcat

With this set apparently laid out in the short 4 issue window when Excalibur was composed of just three members, it also means it's the first set to feature Kitty in her new post-puffy blue sleeves look.

  9. 131 - X-Factor #92 - 5/11/1993

Kicking off "Fatal Attractions" w/holograms & Exodus' 1st app!

Cover by Joe Quesada. Interiors by Scott Lobdell, JM DeMatteis & Quesada

  10. 130 - Iron Man Annual #4 - 5/10/1977

I still have a soft spot for the Champions aka the "Miscellaneous Team."

Cover by Al Milgrom. Interiors by Bill Mantlo & George Tuska.

  11. 014 - Jean Grey

Feels like maybe she should have deflected those missiles further out. 😏

I like the contrast between her somewhat sedate, demure posing and the energy depicted by the missiles and her hair.

  12. 013 - Storm

I appreciate that her flight coming from wind is called out.

(cont.) From that one Christmas wax box, I was able to assemble a full set of cards - and IIRC, nabbed at least a half dozen chase cards.

  13. 124 - X-Men #12 - 5/4/1965

1st appearance of Juggernaut! Featuring one of the best covers of the Silver Age run!

Cover by Jack Kirby. Interiors by Stan Lee, Kirby & Alex Toth.

  14. 123 - Iron Fist #14 - 5/3/1977

1st appearance of Sabretooth! It's pretty wild how integral the last two Iron Fist issues are to the X-Men.

Cover by Dave Cockrum. Interiors by Chris Claremont & John Byrne

  15. 122 - X-Factor (vol. 3) #235 - 5/2/2012

    Great stuff from Yardin.

Cover by David Yardin. Interiors by Peter David & Leonard Kirk.

  16. 009 - Banshee

Banshee, kind of in limbo pre-Generation X, gets tagged as a reservist, which is a fun way to include a historically-important but less active character.

Love the sense of motion created by the tilted skyline.

  17. 120 - X-Force and Cable '97 - 4/30/1997

A sequel of sorts to the final "New Mutants in Asgard" story.

Cover by Adam Pollina. Interiors by John Francis Moore, Rob Haynes & Casey Jones.

  18. New Previously on X-Men for @thecomicon! It's a Cyclops world and we're just living in it.

    comicon.com/?p=628567

  19. 118 - X-Men Legends #3 - 4/28/2021

I find fuzzy Beast in the brown-&-yellow costume strangely alluring. Something about it works.

Cover by Walt Simonson. Interiors by Louise & Walt Simonson.

  20. 005 - Jubilee

Great card, though I don't love the way it almost seems like she's missing her right arm.

  21. 117 - Knights of X #1 - 4/27/2022

Not often that you get Gambit, Shatterstar AND Rachel Summers on a cover, but here we are!

Cover by Yanick Paquette. Interiors by Tini Howard & Bob Quinn.

  22. 116 - X-Factor (vol. 3) #6 - 4/26/2006

How do we feel about Wolf Head Rahne?

Cover by Gabriele Dell'Otto. Interiors by Peter David & Dennis Calero.

  23. 115 - X-Factor #43 - 4/25/1989

The beginning of what I still contend is a deeply underrated story.

Cover by Paul Smith. Interiors by Louise Simonson & Smith.

  24. 111 - Thunderbolts #27 - 4/21/1999

Big fan of when Busiek dipped into a little Champions lore in this book.

Cover by Mark Bagley. Interiors by Kurt Busiek & Bagley.

  25. New Previously On X-Men! Get all the notes and thoughts on the week's X-books!

Magik & Colossus continues to cook, X-Men United continues to...not.

    comicon.com/2026/04/21/previou

  26. 026 - Tracer

This might be the most generic-looking character of all these, which is saying something.

    Scans via tradingcarddb.com

  27. 110 - X-Factor #218 - 4/20/2011

Remember when Guido & Monet were sort of a thing? I don't remember it being very good.

Cover by David Yardin. Interiors by Peter David & Emanuela Lupacchino.

  28. 023 - Legacy

Pretty clearly the unqualified success of this "new character w/a trading card" gimmick, going on to hold down multiple volumes of a solo series.

"Legacy" is still a pretty weak name, though.

    Scans via tradingcarddb.com

  29. 107 - Alpha Flight #12 - 4/16/1985

One of the seminal Alpha Flight images AND one of its oft-homaged covers.

Cover & interiors by John Byrne

  30. 022 - Night Terror

Fun fact: Chris Bachalo drew this annual.

    Scans via @tradingcarddb

  31. 106 - New Defenders #145 - 4/16/1985

I've also liked the idea of putting the non-Cyclops & Jean X-Men in book at this time.

Cover by Mark Badger. Interiors by Peter B. Gillis & Don Perlin.

  32. 021 - Raptor

AKA what if Angel turned into a bird-man and didn't just have wings?

Roy Thomas does like his bird people...

    Scans via @tradingcarddb

  33. 105 - X-Factor #6 - 4/15/1986

    Happy 40th birthday Apocalypse!

Remember, in another world, that's the Owl's head on this cover.

Cover by Ron Frenz. Interiors by Louise Simonson & Jackson Guice.

  34. 104 - X-Factor #18 - 4/14/1987

In which it turns out the lawyer who crafted X-Factor's ill-advised anti-mutant public face is up to no good.

Cover by Walt Simonson. Interiors by Louise Simonson & Simonson.

  35. 103 - X-Factor #91 - 4/13/1993

Madrox contracts the Legacy Virus, putting him on the path towards becoming its most high profile victim.

Cover by Joe Quesada. Interiors by Scott Lobdell & Jan Duursema.

  36. 102 - Uncanny X-Men Annual #18 - 4/12/1994

This is the issue where it's revealed that part of Kitty's uniform can turn into nunchuks.

Cover by Ian Churchill. Interiors by Glenn Herdling & Churchill

  37. 101 - New Mutants #78 - 4/11/1989

The beginning of the end for Rusty & Skids. 😢

Cover by Rick Leonardi. Interiors by Louise Simonson & Leonardi

  38. Iron Man through the trading card ages!

    Which card is your favorite?

  39. Marvel Masterpieces Series 2 Thors!

How do you prefer your Thor: classic, 90s, or space horse?

  40. Just like Giant-Size X-Men #1, Xavier gathers a new diverse group of students after the apparent death of his last students in Marvel Graphic Novel #4

Cuz when your only tool is a hammer, every problem is a nail - and Xavier's got a lot of hammers...

    therealgentlemenofleisure.com/

  41. 099 - Avengers #53 - 4/8/1968

The conclusion to the very first X-Men crossover!

Cover by John Buscema. Interiors by Roy Thomas & Buscema

  42. 098 - X-Factor #146 - 4/7/2004

What's a good term for a bunch of Madrox dupes? A flock of Madrox? A pack? A murder of Madrox?

Cover by Mike Miller. Interiors by Howard Mackie & Lee Moder.

  43. 097 - Wolverine (vol. 3) #13 - 4/7/2004

So do we think this is meant to be an homage to the cover of the first issue of the Claremont/Miller Wolverine mini?

Cover by Darick Robertson. Interiors by Greg Rucka & Robertson.
