137 - Wolverine vs. Sabretooth
New category: Wolverine's Greatest Battles!
Recognizing what all the kids really want in 1994, this set just goes all-in on Wolverine for one of its categories.

136 - Thunderbird
Can't do a collection of inactive X-Men without arguably the most famous one of all.
Somewhere along the way, I misplaced this card, so these images are from @tradingcarddb.

Which Fleer Ultra X-Men Series 1 New Mutants card is the best?
Art from Bill Sienkiewicz, Bo Hampton & Joe Phillips.
-
135 - Mastermind
One of the better trading card/static image depictions of Mastermind's powers.
The power description is reaching a bit; he technically doesn't go into people's minds - he needed help to do that w/Phoenix

130 - Goblin Queen
Not the best depiction of Maddie, but not terrible. I don't recall her being "officially" more powerful than Jean, though. I guess maybe on the grounds she was telepathic at a time Jean wasn't?
-
058 - Juggernaut
Not the most dynamic of Juggernaut cards, but there's still a good sense of movement and a pleasant "solidness" to the figure that works well.
-
006 - Wolverine
The way his bio is vague about the loss of adamantium makes me assume it was written before "Fatal Attractions" and makes me wonder if the writer even knew the details of the story beyond "radical changes."

017 - Phalanx
No relation to the similarly-named X-Men crossover a year later.
"Dick Johnson" heh.

Marvel Masterpieces Series 2 #FantasticFour!
(With Reed and Sue sitting this series out, we're getting flexible with the definition),
Which card is YOUR favorite?

Long live the Leather Jacket Avengers!

Marvel Masterpieces Series 2. The 90s called, they want their villains back.

088 - Terrax
Fabry does Terrax justice, but the awkward framing of the card (cutting off the top of his weapon) makes it look like Terrax is about to axe himself in the head.
-
086 - Crystal
Probably would have been too on the nose, but putting a little campfire on the rock to have all four elements featured could have been cute.
Can you spot the typo on the cardback?
-
078 - Night Thrasher
Honestly, Bret Blevins might be the stealth MVP of this set.

-
068 - Typhoid Mary
A little mini run of Daredevil-related femme fatales.
Blevins really giving those eyebrows his all.
-
063 - Scorpion
Another fun card from Blevins, doing some good work with perspective.
I like that "wasp" and "scorpion" are next to each other.
-
054 - Omega Red
More Blevins, more 90s Wolverine villain glow-ups!
Did Omega Red ever end up in a story w/Cap, given Omega Red was supposed to be the Soviet Captain America at one point?

-
048 - Rhino
Very cool that we get some fully painted Bret Blevins stuff in this set.
Hasn't Rhino's suit always been stuck on him, not just "in the beginning"?
-
047 - Annihilus
Ah! Space Dracula!
I have to assume we eventually learned the origin of the ship from which he crafted his control rod, and it was like a
Celestial or Kree ship or something, right?
-
021 - Doctor Doom
I'm a sucker for the "zoomed in closeup" trading card shot, but something about Doom's nose here throws the whole thing off. It seems disproportionately small.

The full three card Jim Steranko Invaders triptych, lined up as best I could (so many lines)!

002 - Human Torch
In a departure from the all-Joe Jusko series 1, this set features a variety of different artists. In a departure from far too many trading card sets of the time, the artists are credited!

The full 90s-riffic Fantastic Four page! Working Four Freedoms Plaza into the background is a nice touch.

Card 075: Human Torch
Guest-starring Mr. Fantastic's left fist.
These DYK facts are getting a little copy/paste-y.
-
Card 031: Human Torch
Another standout of the set, with a striking layout and bristling with energy.
