  1. 146 - Wolverine vs. Sauron

Big "side of the van" energy on this one.

This is referencing the story in Wolverine #69-71, which is easily the most recent story in the batch.

Also, Sauron is NOT a mutant.

  4. 145 - Wolverine vs. Cable

Commemorating the time Wolverine showed up in New Mutants & fought Cable but I just remember for when Dragoness makes out with Cannoball.

    #TradingCardADay #XMen #FUXM1 #WolverinesGreatestBattles #DanBrereton

  5. 145 - Wolverine vs. Cable

  6. 145 - Wolverine vs. Cable

Commemorating the time Wolverine showed up in New Mutants & fought Cable but I just remember for when Dragoness makes out with Cannoball.

  7. 144 - Wolverine vs. Hellfire Club

Commemorating the battle which more or less put Wolverine on the map (give or take a White Queen)! Does a good job of not feeling overcrowded and still action-packed.

  8. 144 - Wolverine vs. Hellfire Club

  10. 026 - Tracer

This might be the most generic-looking character of all these, which is saying something.

  11. Marvel Masterpieces Series 2 #FantasticFour!

(With Reed and Sue sitting this series out, we're getting flexible with the definition),

    Which card is YOUR favorite?

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #HumanTorch #Thing #DoctorDoom #SheHulk #JimSteranko #GeorgePerez #GlennFabry #JoeJusko

  12. 005 - Cadre

    Mmm...spiky.

I love that Terry Kavanagh saw the "introduce a new character" mandate and said, "I see that and raise you THREE new characters!"

  13. Marvel Masterpieces Series 2. The 90s called, they want their villains back.

    Which card is your favorite?

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #XMen #JoeJusko #BretBlevins #Stryfe #Cyber #OmegaRed #Deadpool

  14. 073 - Thunderstrike

I love how Thunderstrike gets listed as an Avenger on all his trading cards - it's true, but also, pretty sure you can count the # of Avengers issues he appears in as Thunderstrike vs Thor on one hand.

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #Thunderstrike #Avengers #JoeJusko

  15. 069 - War Machine

Solid card. Jusko manages to get a good expression out of a metal face plate. The color splatter also helps the central figure pop a bit despite being principally silver/black.

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #WarMachine #AvengersWestCoast #JoeJusko

  16. 055 - Deadpool

Deadpool's still in his early, relatively-straight-laced, "mysterious if chatty mercenary" phase in '93, so Jusko plays it straight w/a surprisingly strong card. The sight in the background is a nice touch.

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #Deadpool #XForce #Xmen #JoeJusko

  17. 053 - Cyber

Cyber's initial glow-up continues! Jusko puts a lot into the curled, sneering expression that really captures his whole vibe.

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #Cyber #Wolverine #Xmen #JoeJusko

  18. 050 - Cannonball

Another standout of the set. Dynamic perspective & phenomenal coloring work in the different shades of the blastin' effect.

It's kinda odd Sam's brief history w/the Hellfire Club doesn't come up more.

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #Cannonball #XForce #XMen #JoeJusko

  19. 046 - Domino

Domion's stance & the drape of her arm creates a great sense of exasperation, like she's sick of babysitting horned up 20-somethings.

The back panel image is technically Copycat (as the factoid suggests).

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #Domino #Xmen #Xforce #JoeJusko

  20. 044 - Ravage 2099

Stan Lee's last notable creation, the 2099 imprint's only original main character. In true Stan fashion, his last name is "Ravage."

They really should have spaced out these #Marvel2099 characters a bit more.

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #Ravage2099 #JoeJusko

  21. 043 - Doom 2099

I always kind of liked there was one 2099 character who tied directly into the present day comics.

Great stuff from Jusko; you can really feel the crackle of the electricity.

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #Doom2099 #Marvel2099 #JoeJusko

  22. 042 - Punisher 2099

"What if the Punisher...but with...future guns.?"

Some of the 2099 reimaginings worked a little harder than others.

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #Punisher2099 #Marvel2099 #JoeJusko

  23. 041 - Spider-Man 2099

Thanks to the second Spider-Verse film, this is the one 2099 character who is probably more well-known now than in 1993.

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #SpiderMan2099 #Marvel2099 #JoeJusko

  24. 034 - Stryfe

Bless Joe Jusko for painting all those spikes.

This is just about the last year Stryfe can legitimately claim being deserving of a trading card.

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #Stryfe #XMen #XForce #JoeJusko

  25. 030 - She-Hulk

    Guest-starring Ultron!

Jusko knocks it out of the park with this one, capturing both She-Hulk's power and personality in one image.

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #SheHulk #Avengers #JoeJusko

  26. 029 - Forge

This card is important because it immortalizes Forge's 1980s, popped collar, short-shorts first appearance look in trading card form.

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #Forge #Xmen #JoeJusko

  27. 023 - Iron Fist

I appreciate that Jusko is doing characters he didn't do in the first series.

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #IronFist #JoeJusko

  28. 019 - Carnage

Jusko with a card that would feel right at home in Series 1 (Carnage, having just debuted, did not make the cut). Love the sense of depth created by the symbiote tendrils.

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #Carnage #SpiderMan #JoeJusko

  29. 012 - Vision

Joe Jusko, who painted every card in Series 1, makes his Series 2 debut w/Vision's first Masterpieces card.
By 1993, he'd gone back into the red body, also making this the first non-White Vision solo trading card.

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #Avengers #Vision #JoeJusko

  30. 010 - Storm

Another weird Kaluta card I've never loved; not sure what wolves and...rat people? Maybe Spidey villain Vermin? have to do with Storm.

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #Storm #XMen #MichaelWKaluta

  31. 008 - Doctor Strange

A much better subject for Kaluta's more representative approach.

    Secret Defenders shout out!

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #DoctorStrange #MichaelWKaluta

  32. 005 - Spider-Man

I like the sort of representational idea behind this card, but it's never been one of my favorite Spider-Man cards. Spidey is so visually iconic he should easily pop, but the spider legs are too distracting.

    #TradingCardADay #MM2 #SpiderMan #MichaelWKaluta

  33. Card #116: Allen Nunis

I agree, this is a cool look.

There's been a few different "Leia gets the Boushh gear" stories through the years, but none that have ever quite hooked me.

    #TradingCardADay #SWG1 #StarWars #NewVisions #ReturnOfTheJedi #PrincessLeia

  34. Card #108: Esteban Maroto

More Bikini Leia, though this is casting a bit of a wider net and channeling more of the saga's John Carter influences.

    #TradingCardADay #SWG1 #StarWars #NewVisions #PrincessLeia

  35. Card 008: Deathlok

The coloring on his head is effective & subtle, yet his arms, legs & gun all blend into the background.

"The computer network known as cyberspace" is a chef's kiss of "this card is from the early 90s."

    #TradingCardADay #MU4 #Deathlok

  36. Card 003: Siege

We all remember notable Deathlok baddie Siege, right?

This is not limited to this series, but once again, I am irritated by the cardbacks being landscape instead of portrait.

    #TradingCardADay #MU4 #Deathlok #Siege
