Not sure why Rogue's butt dimple is so front & center, but here we are.

W ostatnim nagraniu, poświęconym zastrzeżeniom administracji Kodeksu Komiksowego do jednej z plansz w drugim zeszycie serii "Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." z 1968 roku, powiedziałem, że Jim Steranko robił w komiksach o Furym rzeczy magiczne i jego wpływ na amerykański komiks widoczny jest do dziś.
Powiedziałem to i początkowo nie zamierzałem do tematu wracać, ale, jako że sam nie lubię takich stwierdzeń niepodpartych żadną argumentacją, uznałem, że muszę przedstawić tu przynajmniej jeden dowód na potwierdzenie tych słów.
Tak więc – przed Wami podwójna dwustronicowa rozkładówka z ilustracja przedstawiającą starcie między siłami S.H.I.E.L.D. i Yellow Clawa, którą Steranko stworzył na potrzeby historii zamieszczonej w 167. numerze "Strange Tales" z 1968 roku. Oznacza to, że ilustracja ta zajmowała łącznie cztery strony i, żeby móc zobaczyć ją w całej okazałości, należało ułożyć obok siebie dwa egzemplarze komiksu (na co zresztą otwarcie wskazywał tekst w ramce u góry czwartej strony składającej się na ilustrację).
Dziś może nie robi to wielkiego wrażenia, bo amerykańska branża komiksowa przyzwyczaiła nas do różnych gimmicków, ale Steranko zrobił to w 1968 roku, zanim kapitalizm przekonał sporo osób do kupowania kilku egzemplarzy tego samego lub niemal tego samego komiksu jako "inwestycji" lub kolekcjonerskich wariantów okładkowych.
Chcecie przykład wpływu Steranki, czy w ogóle tego konkretnego zabiegu, na amerykańki komiks? Ale czegoś wykraczającego poza gimmick sprzedażowy, jak słynne okładki pierwszego zeszytu "X-Men" z 1991 roku? Mam nawet coś, co ukazało się w Polsce. Weźcie pierwszy tom "Kowboja z Shaolin" Geofa Darrowa od Wydawnictwo KBOOM i zobaczcie ciągnącą się przez dziesięć stron ilustrację, na której tytułowy bohater wpada w zasadzkę licznej grupy chcących go zgładzić ludzi. To jest Steranko, tylko później i bardziej.
