CL - Checklist
I do love that they made a checklist card for this set (released to various comic shops).
I can source at least four of the images of the cardfront (Punisher, Psylocke, Colossus & Jean).

027 - X-Treme
Seems apt that this is the last card of the "set."
Nary a hint of "Adam X" to be found!

-
026 - Tracer
This might be the most generic-looking character of all these, which is saying something.

025 - Eradikator 6
Another one-and-done-er!
The "K" in place of the "C" in Eradicator is laughably 90s (and is probably because of DC's "Eradicator"), but the "6" adds a little something.

024 - Empyrean
A character with a complicated power set tied directly to a specific storyline, Empyrean never really took off.
Props for teaching me a new vocab word via the name back in the day.

023 - Legacy
Pretty clearly the unqualified success of this "new character w/a trading card" gimmick, going on to hold down multiple volumes of a solo series.
"Legacy" is still a pretty weak name, though.

Fun fact: Chris Bachalo drew this annual.

021 - Raptor
AKA what if Angel turned into a bird-man and didn't just have wings?
Roy Thomas does like his bird people...

020 - Nocture
Another rare instance of a character who appeared prior to the annual - in this case, Angela Cairn's transformation into Nocturne counts as the "new character."

019 - Khaos
Fun fact: writer Evan Skolnick repurposed this character from Dungeon & Dragons campaigns he played in high school & college.

018- Irish Wolfhound
This is not the character I would have expected to turn in a Guardians of the Galaxy annual.

-
017 - Phalanx
No relation to the similarly-named X-Men crossover a year later.
"Dick Johnson" heh.

-
016 - The Face Thief
While his first appearance is also the Face Thief's only appearance to date, this is a rare example of one of these new characters getting tied into an ongoing storyline.

015 - The Flame
Frankly, just sticking with "Hrinmeer" would have been better than giving him the generic-ass moniker "The Flame."

014 - Devourer
Admittedly, I haven't read Daredevil Annual #9, so maybe it gets explained there, but I am curious why someone possessed by a Serpent God looks like a Hyena Man.

-
013 - Lazarus
Here's another done-in-one who hasn't appeared outside his introductory annual.
So I get the back from the dead thing, but what's the deal with the weird tentacle things?

012 - The Assassin
For a nuclear-powered killer robot that dresses like a geisha, "Assassin" seems like a laughably generic name that is burying all kinds of ledes about the character.

010 - Dreamkiller
Feels like a Sleepwalker villain repurposed for Darkhawk.
Not sure what the blue ponytail is adding.

009 - Kyllian
So obviously they couldn't just do "Killian" as a pun (ie KILLian) since that's just a name, but I don't know that "Kyllian" is much better.

008 - Wildstreak
Grading on the curve of these characters, Wildstreak has a pretty decent CV, w/DeFalco also using her in his Thunderstrike book, then popping up in "Civil War" and a Red Hulk story.

-
007 - X-Cutioner
Probably the most successful of the characters introduced in these annuals - he made it into a cartoon - but Genis-Vell has him beat in terms of comic appearances.
Scans via tradingcarddb.com
-
006 - Charon
Not only is this Charon's only appearance, he's the 4th most interesting villain in his introductory story, just a plot device for Peter David to pay off his Chalker family gag/subplot

-
005 - Cadre
Mmm...spiky.
I love that Terry Kavanagh saw the "introduce a new character" mandate and said, "I see that and raise you THREE new characters!"

-
004 - Bloodwraith
Thanks to his connection to Black Knight at a time when I was all about Black Knight, this is one of the '93 Annual creations I have a stronger connection to.
Scans via tradingcarddb.com
-
003 - Darkling
Contrary to the cardback, Darkling is the only character from a '93 annual to debut before that annual - his first appearance is in New Warriors #32.

002 - Bantam
AKA Boxing Chicken Man
I get that the padded crotch piece is an important piece of boxing equipment, but maybe not the best piece to incorporate into your anti-hero attire.

001 - Annex
Similar to DC's "Bloodlines" all Marvel Annuals in 1993 introduced a new character & came w/a trading card of that character.
Some w/more staying power than others.
